Racing Against Time: Sichuan Coalfield Geophysical Exploration Team Rushes to Jiangyou for Emergency Rescue

Around 10 a.m. on May 25, after receiving orders from the leadership of the Sichuan Provincial Coalfield Geological Bureau to provide emergency support for the tunnel collapse at the Wudu Water Diversion Project, Sichuan Zhongcheng Coalfield Geophysical Exploration Engineering Institute Co., Ltd. promptly established a geophysical exploration technical team. After contacting the Joint Command Center for Emergency Rescue, the team immediately set off and arrived swiftly at the site by noon that same day. Based on the preliminary information they had gathered, the geophysical exploration team conducted a targeted on-site survey of the collapsed section of the tunnel. Due to the narrow cross-section of the tunnel at the site, severe blockages caused by the collapse, and the highly complex conditions in the buried areas, on-site rescue efforts were severely hampered. Combining their practical experience, the geophysical exploration team optimized their approach and designed three geophysical profiles: one running along the tunnel’s axis and two intersecting obliquely with the tunnel’s axis. At 7 p.m., the geophysical exploration team began field operations according to the designed plan. After working through the night, they successfully completed the field data collection by 3 a.m. on May 26. Subsequently, the geophysical exploration team processed and inverted the collected data in conjunction with geological information provided by the Joint Command Center for Emergency Rescue, quickly pinpointing the location of the collapsed area. Their findings confirmed the rescue expert group’s initial prediction of the collapse zone, laying a solid foundation for the next phase of scientific rescue operations.

Taking Up the Baton to Support Poverty Alleviation and Diving Deep into Rural Revitalization—A Profile of Zou Zhongping, Deputy Secretary of the Jiulong County Party Committee on Secondment

At dawn, the car began to move slowly, and houses and streets adorned with Tibetan elements and Yi-style architecture gradually receded into the distance. The sky over Jiulong had suddenly lost its usual deep, brilliant blue, and a gentle drizzle had begun to fall. On the towering Jichou Mountain, flakes of snow were already drifting down. All these sights before him were scenes that Zou Zhongping knew all too well. He reached out his hand, waving goodbye to his friends. Though their time together had been brief—just two years—it was a bond that would last forever.
