The passage of time brings constant change, yet each new day ushers in fresh brilliance. Over the past three years, we’ve witnessed countless strides of hard work; through three cycles of seasons, we’ve penned a new chapter of reform. As time flows on and reaches December 27, 2024, looking back over these three years, Sichuan Natural Resources Investment Group has risen to meet the moment, embracing its mission and taking on the responsibility of steering the tide of the times. In the field of Natural Resources, we’ve been exploring new paths of development, standing tall as a symbol of “establishment at three critical moments,” boldly stepping forward at the forefront of the era and embarking on a new journey.

Over the past three years, the group has thoroughly implemented the philosophy of reform and innovation, integrated resources, optimized its strategic layout, and unleashed vitality, thereby driving industrial upgrading and transformation. With steady and solid steps, it has written a grand chapter of “establishing itself in three distinct eras” and achieved remarkable accomplishments.

Standing at Three O’Clock—Growing Together with the Group

Looking back on the three-year journey of hard work, technological innovation has served as a powerful engine, driving the Geophysical Exploration Institute forward steadily. Under the strong leadership of the Party Committee of the Group, the Institute has closely focused on the Group’s core responsibilities and main business, been market-demand oriented, and driven by technological innovation, firmly pursuing a path of “specialization, refinement, uniqueness, and innovation.” Internally, we have deepened reform step by step, gradually unleashing the vitality of our systems and mechanisms; externally, we have enhanced our image and actively explored broader markets, continuously building a comprehensive geophysical exploration team that is centered on geophysical exploration, supported by related specialties, and moderately diversified. We are constantly strengthening the company’s cohesion, centripetal force, and combat effectiveness. All cadres and employees are working together with one heart and unwavering commitment, exploring innovation, accelerating development, and striving to open up a new chapter of high-quality development in the field of geophysical exploration for Natural Resources.

A shift in thinking opens up opportunities.

As a technology-service-oriented enterprise that the Group is vigorously developing, the Geophysical Exploration Institute closely aligns itself with the Group’s “1233” strategic positioning and “2468” strategic plan. With the significant mission of serving resource-rich provinces and building them into resource-powerhouses, the Institute has achieved comprehensive success in markets including oil and gas exploration and development, mineral exploration, public and railway infrastructure surveys, new-energy exploration such as photovoltaics, geological hazard assessments, and soil and water conservation. These achievements have laid a solid foundation for the Group to firmly assume its primary responsibility as the leading force in the province’s strategic exploration and development of technology-based mineral resources.

Only with a solid foundation can we build towering structures; only with clear strategies can we ensure a smooth path forward. Faced with a limited market and an intensely competitive environment, the Geophysical Exploration Institute has actively shifted its mindset and vigorously developed new forms of productive forces. It has put great effort into specialization, refinement, distinctiveness, and cutting-edge technologies, breaking away from traditional geophysical exploration thinking and boldly taking on new challenges—daring to be the first to explore uncharted territory—in the oil and gas sector. Over the past three years, the Institute has established science and technology innovation platforms and fostered a high-quality innovation ecosystem, transforming the “key variable” of technological innovation into the “largest increment” driving high-quality development, thereby helping to address the bottlenecks and sticking points in industrial development and technological innovation. Through continuous innovation and development, the Institute has earned a strong reputation and expanded its market presence by leveraging its mature core technologies and providing high-quality, efficient services in areas such as oil and gas exploration and oil and gas fracturing monitoring.

Build a platform, foster innovation and attract talent.

With the goal of enhancing its scientific and technological innovation capabilities, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration is actively exploring the “Academician and Expert + Talent Innovation Studio” model. It is focusing on establishing an innovation empowerment platform comprising “Two Workstations, Two Centers, and Four Studios” (the Academician He Jishan Workstation, the Chengdu Academician (Expert) Workstation, the Chengdu Enterprise Technology Center, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration’s Science and Technology Innovation Center, and four young people’s science and technology innovation studios). This platform will gradually evolve into an innovation ecosystem characterized by “two workstations” working side by side, “two centers” collaborating closely, and “four studios” driving forward in unison.

Closely focusing on the development direction of “marketization, professionalization, and technological advancement to enhance enterprises’ core competitiveness,” we will continuously promote innovation in business philosophy, technological innovation, management innovation, and diversified industrial innovation. We will concentrate on our core business, cultivate it with meticulous care, continually improve the quality and level of our development, and strengthen our core competitiveness. We will fully leverage platforms to attract talent, share domestic and international innovation resources, and create a new landscape of integrated, collaborative innovation involving industry, academia, research, and application.

Keep working tirelessly, and the harvest will come as scheduled.

Over the past three years, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration has continuously broken new ground in its business areas—from the Bashu region to the snow-covered plateau, from pursuing dreams in northern China to expanding into the southeastern frontier—while steadily enhancing its service capabilities. Integrated engineering geophysical exploration technologies have been widely applied in shale gas exploration and development; wide-area electromagnetic exploration techniques have achieved significant breakthroughs in oil (and shale) gas exploration; fracturing electromagnetic monitoring technology has made substantial progress in China’s “Gas Daqing”; holographic electromagnetic methods are providing valuable support for increasing reserves in mature shale gas fields; electromagnetic detection technologies are playing a crucial role in railway and highway surveys; the scope of water conservation and soil protection services continues to expand; the survey of active faults and seismic safety assessments are showing strong growth momentum; and substantive progress has been made in the emerging fields of green building materials and green mine evaluations.

The Institute of Geophysical Exploration takes projects as the driving force to actively promote applications for the Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award and the approval of scientific research projects, thereby achieving simultaneous advancement in production and R&D. We are accelerating the integration of core technologies and the development of a robust technical talent pipeline. We have established the Sichuan Office of the Chinese Geophysical Society and a pilot unit for science and technology promotion, and are jointly applying with Chengdu University of Technology to establish the Sichuan Geophysical Society. Over the past three years, we have obtained 6 invention patents and 11 software copyrights, and published 2 SCI papers, 3 EI papers, and 5 papers indexed in Peking University’s Core Journals.

Over the past three years, the Geophysical Exploration Institute has embraced innovation and driven enterprise development through science and technology, unlocking its growth potential via technological innovation. Moving forward, the Institute will continue to adhere to the company’s five-year strategic development plan as its guiding principle, focusing on high-quality enterprise development and energizing the dual engines of “market” and “innovation.” It will place particular emphasis on building strength in scientific and technological capabilities, cultivating a core team of technical experts, enhancing the reputation of its technological products and services, and expanding its market share—constantly striving to become a first-class domestic geophysical exploration team with distinctive professional strengths and advantages.
