On December 20, the Southwest Geological Science and Technology Innovation 2025 Academic Annual Conference was held in Chengdu. Hosted by the Chengdu Geological Survey Center of the China Geological Survey (Southwest Geological Science and Technology Innovation Center), the conference was themed “Strengthening Our Endeavors during the 14th Five-Year Plan and Reaping Abundant Fruits; Pioneering New Chapters under the 15th Five-Year Plan through Innovation,” bringing together top experts and scholars from the industry to jointly discuss the grand strategy for the development of geological science and technology in the southwest region. The Institute of Geophysical Exploration was invited to attend the conference and delivered a special report at the sub-session on exploration technologies.

Recently, the “Changxing Formation and Maokou Formation Gas-Water Identification Project” jointly tackled by the Institute of Geophysical Exploration and the Research & Development Institute of the Southwest Oil & Gas Field Branch of CNPC was officially launched. Centered on wide-area electromagnetic technology, this project conducts research focusing on digital modeling, acquisition parameter testing, and processing and interpretation methods. The goal is to establish a highly efficient and accurate gas-water identification technology system, laying the foundation for solving the gas-water identification challenges in this region by 2026.

On December 7, the 2025 Academic Annual Conference of the Sichuan Provincial Geophysical Society was successfully held at Chengdu University of Technology. Hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Geophysical Society and co-organized by ten institutions including the Institute of Geophysical Exploration, the conference was themed “Innovation Sets Sail, Moving Forward Together, Achieving Win-Win Cooperation.” It brought together experts, scholars, and technical leaders from the geophysics field both within and outside the province.

Fire safety is no small matter—every detail counts, and we must always be vigilant against even the slightest signs of trouble. To effectively strengthen all employees’ fire safety awareness and enhance their practical skills in fire prevention and emergency response, the Geophysical Exploration Institute meticulously organized a series of fire safety promotion activities in November. Through a three-dimensional approach—combining “learning, inspection, and warnings”—the institute has built a robust “fireproof wall” for safe production. The activities have yielded remarkable results and received an enthusiastic response.

Members of the company’s leadership team, secretaries of party branches based in Chengdu, and mid-level cadres attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Zou Zhongping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Secretary of the Commission for Discipline Inspection, and Chairman of the Trade Union. Yu Changheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager, delivered a concluding speech.
