A Steady Start, Solid Foundations | The Geophysical Exploration Institute Bolsters the Foundation for Year-Round Development Through Pragmatic Action
Since the beginning of this year, the Geophysical Exploration Institute has closely aligned itself with the Group’s development strategy and the “Three Transformations” initiative, adopting a proactive and determined approach to coordinate production and operations, market expansion, and technological innovation. As a result, all initiatives have been implemented efficiently, yielding one success after another and laying a solid foundation for high-quality development throughout the year.
Focusing on core responsibilities and primary business, major projects are being advanced in an orderly manner.
The Pingshan 3D seismic project is being steadily implemented; the Sichuan Central Gas–Water Identification Project has successfully passed the interim results review; fracturing monitoring tasks for seven wells, including those in the Changning National Shale Gas Block and the Tongnanba Block of the Puguang Gas Field, have been efficiently completed, providing full support for the development of Sichuan’s “Gas Daqing.” Key projects such as the transportation engineering exploration for the Milin Hydropower Station in Tibet, inland flood prevention in the Nansha District, and the survey of the Yajiang Yagen Hydropower Station are progressing according to schedule; the preliminary specialized design for the Haoba Coal Mine exploration in Yibin and the gas drainage plan have been delivered on time; and the wide-area electromagnetic survey in the Fengdu Block has smoothly passed acceptance, with technical services receiving high recognition from the client.
Adhering to market orientation, business operations have gotten off to a strong start.
The company has successfully won bids for numerous high-quality projects with PetroChina, Sinopec, and Sichuan Oil & Gas, among others. It has established high-level coordination mechanisms with the Southwest Oil and Gas Field, Power Construction Corporation of China, and Energy Engineering Group of China, thereby gaining entry into the Southwest Oil and Gas Field’s exploration market. The company’s business footprint continues to expand, with thriving operations across multiple sectors—including minerals, oil and gas, power, and water conservation—and a steady increase in its share of external markets.
Uphold innovation-driven development, with parallel progress in tackling key technological challenges and building research platforms.
Targeted research project initiation: The development of a wide-area electromagnetic gas–water identification and AI-based inversion system has been successfully completed; the provincial-level project “Intelligent Electromagnetic Exploration Equipment and Applications Based on Air–Ground–Well Multi-Dimensional Adaptive Technology” has been concluded; and, in collaboration with Sichuan Oil & Gas and other institutions, a proposal has been submitted for “Coupled Hydrocarbon Accumulation Processes and Preservation Mechanisms of Multiple Types of Triassic Oil and Gas in Southwest Sichuan,” thereby supporting the new round of strategic initiatives for breakthroughs in mineral exploration.
Progress in Platform Development: The Sichuan Provincial Pilot Test Platform for Intelligent Technologies and Equipment in Oil and Gas Exploration and Development Has Passed the Expert Review by the Department of Science and Technology.
Frequent good news on award criteria: two applications for provincial-level or higher science and technology progress awards were submitted, and a project jointly submitted with universities and research institutes won the Second Prize of China’s Industry-University-Research Cooperation; a proposal for the Natural Resources Standard Project “Technical Specifications for Ground-to-Air Transient Electromagnetic Detection” was led in submission, aiming to guide industry development through standards.
With the journey spanning thousands of miles and the wind at our backs, we are ready to take on the heavy responsibility and set off once again. Moving forward, the Geophysical Exploration Institute will continue to stay focused on its annual goals, rigorously implement and execute plans, adopt more practical measures and maintain a better work style, make all-out efforts to achieve strong results in the second quarter and secure victory for the whole year, and contribute its geophysical exploration expertise to the Group’s goal of becoming the “No. 1 Corps” for strategic mineral resource exploration and development across the province and the “No. 1 Vanguard” for investment in the Natural Resources sector.
