On January 27, the first Youth Innovation and Efficiency Competition organized by Sichuan Resources Group came to a successful conclusion. As the host organization of this event, the Geophysical Exploration Institute attached great importance to it and meticulously planned and coordinated every aspect, setting up a high-standard competition platform. At the same time, the institute assembled an elite team that eagerly took part in the competition. Among the 57 participating projects from across the group and more than 1,200 young talents competing on the same stage, our team stood out remarkably. Two of the projects we submitted achieved outstanding results, vividly demonstrating the innovative vitality and commitment to achieving practical results of our young geophysical explorers.

The “Deep Magnetic—Fission Eye” oil and gas fracturing electromagnetic monitoring project won the second prize in the Innovation & Efficiency category, while the multi-modal data fusion technology for well-electricity seismic imaging to identify gas and water earned the third prize in the Innovation category.

“Deep Magnetic—Fission Eye” Oil and Gas Fracturing Electromagnetic Monitoring Project

The team has pioneered a second-generation wide-area electromagnetic fracturing monitoring technology that leverages the “underground conductor antenna effect” to achieve data acquisition at the minute level and update results every 5 to 10 minutes, enabling real-time projection and command of fracturing operations. This technology breaks through the traditional bottlenecks of low monitoring accuracy and poor real-time performance. By optimizing individual wells, it has generated economic benefits equivalent to an additional 10 million yuan in oil and gas production, serving over 100 wells annually and generating direct revenues exceeding 50 million yuan. The technology has also been extended to fields such as geothermal development and CO₂ storage, with a potential market size exceeding 10 billion yuan. This project has significantly enhanced China’s international competitiveness in oil and gas monitoring, making positive contributions to ensuring energy security, practicing green development principles, and boosting socio-economic benefits.

Well-Induced Seismic Multi-modal Data Fusion Gas-Water Identification Technology

This technology represents a substantial breakthrough, shifting from “experience-based blind exploration” to “data-driven intelligence.” For the first time, it deeply integrates high-precision borehole data, fluid-sensitive electromagnetic information, and seismic imaging to create a comprehensive diagnostic system for subsurface reservoirs—akin to a “CT scan plus blood test.” The technology has already been successfully applied to several wells in multiple complex geological blocks and has been validated through post-drilling verification, significantly reducing exploration costs. It is foreseeable that this technology will be widely adopted in complex oil-and-gas blocks in the near future.

Behind these two prestigious honors lies the tireless dedication and relentless efforts of the young team at the Geophysical Exploration Institute—as well as the fruitful outcomes of the Institute’s longstanding commitment to nurturing young talent and building platforms for innovation and efficiency. As a vibrant, technology-driven team, the young members of the Geophysical Exploration Institute have consistently embraced their role as “geological scouts,” firmly rooting themselves in the frontline of oil and gas exploration. Faced with complex geological conditions and technological bottlenecks, they bravely strive for excellence, infusing their youthful wisdom into practical applications aimed at driving technological innovation and enhancing operational effectiveness. Through concrete actions, they remain true to their original aspiration and mission of “serving the country through science and technology.”

The conclusion of the competition is not the end—it’s a new starting point for continued innovation and advancement. Moving forward, the Geophysical Exploration Institute will take this competition as an opportunity to further deepen its efforts in cultivating young talent, refine its innovation incentive mechanisms, and establish more high-quality platforms for scientific and technological innovation. We encourage our young employees to follow the example of the award winners, boldly explore and experiment in their respective roles, and delve deeply into their work with meticulous dedication. By turning innovative achievements into tangible results that drive high-quality development, we’ll allow the flowers of youth to bloom brilliantly on the journey of technological innovation and industrial empowerment, injecting a constant stream of youthful energy into the development of Sichuan Resources Group!
