Deeply Cultivating Our Expertise, Jointly Discussing Development | The Institute of Geophysical Exploration Hosts and Participates in the 2025 Academic Annual Conference of the Sichuan Geophysical Society

On December 7, the 2025 Academic Annual Conference of the Sichuan Provincial Geophysical Society was successfully held at Chengdu University of Technology. Hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Geophysical Society and co-organized by ten institutions including the Institute of Geophysical Exploration, this academic conference was themed “Innovation Sets Sail, Moving Forward Together, Achieving Win-Win Cooperation.” It brought together experts, scholars, and technical leaders from the geophysics field both within and outside the province.

At the opening ceremony, Zeng Guoqiang, Vice President of Chengdu University of Technology, delivered a welcoming speech. Liu Jianxin, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Geophysical Society and Professor at Central South University, Pei Shunping, Chairman of the Yunnan Provincial Geophysical Society and Professor at Yunnan University, and Wang Xuben, Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Geophysical Society, each gave speeches, warmly welcoming the attending guests and wishing the annual conference every success. The opening ceremony was chaired by Zhang Guangda, Secretary-General of the Sichuan Provincial Geophysical Society.

As a core force in the geophysics field in Sichuan Province and the supporting institution for the Sichuan Branch of the Chinese Geophysical Society, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration has demonstrated outstanding academic influence, technological leadership, and industry cohesion at the annual academic conference, further solidifying its leading position in the development of geophysics in Sichuan.

This conference features 1 main venue and 5 specialized sub-venues, among which... The special sub-session on airborne geophysical exploration is convened and chaired by the Institute of Geophysical Exploration. Six experts from the Geophysical Exploration Institute delivered a series of high-level academic presentations at the main venue and various specialized sub-venues, covering topics including: Deep-resource exploration, oil and gas exploration, engineering geophysics, and airborne transient electromagnetic technology Covering multiple cutting-edge research areas, this report highlights the Institute of Geophysical Exploration’s profound expertise and extensive track record in technological innovation and the commercialization of research findings. The report not only received high praise from the attending experts but also underscored the Institute’s significant contributions to advancing the discipline of geophysics and bolstering national energy and resource security. In addition, several experts from the Institute served as moderators or panelists at sub-conferences, guiding in-depth discussions on key topics and demonstrating the Institute’s systematic approach to talent development, team building, and academic leadership.

Platform empowerment, leveraging the Sichuan office to bring together industry expertise.

As the Sichuan Office of the Chinese Geophysical Society, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration fully leveraged its role as an academic bridge and exchange platform at this year’s annual conference, fostering deepened connections and collaborative innovation among research institutions, universities, and enterprises both within and outside the province. The office actively promoted high-level academic dialogue, helping to build a regional geophysical innovation ecosystem characterized by open collaboration and mutual advancement, thereby further enhancing Sichuan’s voice and influence in the national geophysical community.
