From October 19 to 22, the Joint Academic Annual Conference of China’s Earth Sciences, co-organized by the Institute of Geophysical Exploration, was successfully held in Chengdu. As an influential academic exchange platform in China’s earth sciences field, this year’s conference brought together thousands of experts and scholars from universities, research institutes, and enterprises across the country, who engaged in in-depth discussions around key topics such as “Deep-Earth Exploration and Resource Security.”

Through a dual-track approach featuring invited keynote speeches and showcased research achievements, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration systematically presented technological breakthroughs and practical application results in the field of geological exploration. Relying on its solid technical foundation and proven track record, the institute garnered widespread attention and recognition from the attending experts and scholars.

At the meeting, two senior experts from the Geophysical Exploration Institute were invited to deliver special reports titled “Research and Application of Ground Multi-Source Holographic Electromagnetic Detection Technology” and “Research and Application of Semi-Airborne Transient Electromagnetic Method in Geological Exploration.” These reports focused on theoretical innovations and engineering practices related to core technologies, providing participants with profound industry insights.

At the exhibition site, the booth of the Geophysical Exploration Institute was bustling with visitors. The display boards showcasing technological achievements in two core areas—oil and gas exploration and development, and mineral resource exploration—became the center of attention, drawing large numbers of attendees from universities, research institutes, and exploration companies who stopped to observe and engage in in-depth discussions. Participants focused their inquiries on key issues such as optimizing the adaptability of technologies under complex geological conditions, designing synergistic application strategies with existing detection methods, and enhancing operational efficiency in real-world applications. The atmosphere of on-site exchanges was exceptionally lively. In response to various questions, the institute’s staff provided detailed and professional answers one by one. Moreover, drawing on industry trends, they engaged in thorough discussions with numerous organizations on topics including directions for technological iteration and collaborative R&D models involving industry, academia, and research institutions, ultimately reaching several preliminary intentions for further cooperation.

During the exhibition, Academician Di Qingyun from the Chinese Academy of Sciences made a special visit to the Geophysical Exploration Institute’s booth. She listened carefully to the staff’s detailed briefing on the expansion of technology application scenarios, pathways for translating innovative achievements into practical applications, and the impressive outcomes of typical project implementations. She highly praised the Geophysical Exploration Institute’s distinctive features—its close alignment of technological innovation with actual industry needs and its solid, rich experience in practical applications—and encouraged the team to continue deepening their expertise in core technologies and further accelerate the commercialization of their research findings.

At this conference, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration not only showcased its strong technical capabilities and innovative achievements in the field of geophysical exploration, but also gained a precise understanding of the latest trends in technological development through in-depth discussions and exchanges with academicians, experts, and industry peers. This has laid a solid foundation for subsequent technological upgrades and the industrial application of research outcomes. Looking ahead, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration will remain firmly committed to technology-driven innovation, focus on addressing key technical challenges in resource exploration, continuously enhance its core competitiveness, and contribute more specialized expertise to the advancement of China’s earth science endeavors and the safeguarding of energy resources.
