On April 10, the Sichuan Province Conference on Thematic Education for Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era was held in Chengdu. The conference was chaired and addressed by Wang Xiaohui, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee. He emphasized that we must deeply study and implement the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the thematic education conference as well as the decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee. We should approach this thematic education in our province with a high degree of political awareness, continuously drawing spiritual nourishment and vigorous momentum from the Party’s innovative theories, and strive to write a splendid chapter for Sichuan’s modernization with Chinese characteristics. We should also make greater efforts to contribute more significantly to the building of a strong country and the rejuvenation of the nation.

Lian Yimin, head of the 12th Central Guidance Group, attended the meeting to provide guidance and deliver a speech. Huang Qiang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Governor, was also in attendance.

In his speech, Wang Xiaohui pointed out that carrying out in-depth thematic education on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era throughout the Party is a major strategic deployment made by the Party Central Committee to fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Party and mobilize all Party members to unite and strive vigorously toward the Party’s central tasks. At present, across the province, we are deeply studying and implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Party as well as the outcomes of the First and Second Plenary Sessions of the 20th Central Committee, fully putting into practice the General Secretary’s series of important instructions on Sichuan’s work, and making vigorous efforts to ensure a good start and steady progress in Sichuan’s modernization drive in the new era and on the new journey. Conducting thematic education at this critical juncture is both timely and vitally important—it represents a profound ideological and political cleansing, a systematic enhancement of our capabilities and competencies, a serious education in discipline and work style, and a powerful boost and encouragement as we embark on a new journey. All Party organizations at various levels across the province and the vast number of Party members and cadres must firmly use the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech to guide and direct the implementation of thematic education in our province. They should regard organizing and carrying out thematic education effectively as an important test of their firm support for the “Two Establishments” and their resolute commitment to upholding the “Two Safeguards.” We must continue to deepen our study, understanding, and grasp of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and with unified thinking, firm resolve, coordinated actions, and strong fighting capacity, stride forward onto the new journey and achieve new accomplishments.

Wang Xiaohui pointed out that we must firmly grasp the overarching requirements of “studying thought, strengthening Party spirit, emphasizing practice, and achieving new accomplishments,” and earnestly ensure that we forge our souls through study, enhance our wisdom through study, rectify our conduct through study, and promote action through study. We must genuinely love the Party, always be concerned about the Party, firmly safeguard the Party, and wholeheartedly strengthen the Party. We should consciously become firm believers, active disseminators, and loyal practitioners of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and always maintain high consistency with the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core—in thought, politics, and action. To enhance our wisdom through study means guiding Party members and cadres across the province to comprehensively and systematically master the basic viewpoints and scientific framework of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, accurately grasp its worldview and methodology, consistently uphold and effectively apply the standpoints, viewpoints, and methods running through it, truly acquire the essential skills of Marxism, and continuously improve our ability and level in promoting reform and development. We must strive hard, work diligently, and make solid progress, constantly opening up new prospects for the development of governance and prosperity in Sichuan with a fresh outlook and new achievements.

Wang Xiaohui pointed out that we must adhere to a systematic approach and promote coordinated advancement, ensuring that all key tasks of the thematic education are implemented thoroughly and meticulously. We should carefully organize theoretical study, insist on reading original works, studying original texts, and comprehending underlying principles, guiding Party members and cadres—especially leading officials—to deeply grasp the essence and core ideas of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, continuously enhancing their theoretical competence, strengthening their ideals and convictions, elevating their ideological awareness, and bolstering their capabilities and skills. We should coordinate and promote high-quality economic and social development, integrating the implementation of thematic education with the advancement of central tasks, taking the satisfaction of the masses as the fundamental criterion for evaluation. We must deeply implement the strategy of “simultaneous advancement of four modernizations, integrated urban-rural development, and shared prosperity of five regions,” ensuring that established plans are effectively put into practice and that this year’s goals and tasks are successfully completed, continuously improving our capacity and level in promoting high-quality development. We must consistently integrate problem rectification throughout the entire process, aligning with and meeting the requirements set forth by the Party Central Committee, combining targeted rectifications with concentrated efforts, daring to tackle tough issues head-on, and striving for real results. We must solidly establish rules and systems, adhering to the combination of immediate rectifications and long-term institutional arrangements, exploring and establishing长效机制 (long-term mechanisms) for consolidating and deepening the achievements of thematic education, and better using Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to unite hearts and minds, guide practice, and advance work. We must earnestly strengthen organizational leadership over the thematic education, reinforce responsibility implementation, enhance differentiated implementation, intensify supervision and guidance, and strengthen publicity and guidance, thus continuously deepening and making the thematic education in our province more substantive and effective.

Lian Yimin pointed out that General Secretary Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the thematic education campaign and has issued numerous important instructions and directives. The important speech delivered at the Central Conference on Studying and Implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is a programmatic document for strengthening Party building in the new era and serves as the fundamental guideline for carrying out the thematic education campaign. The meeting was held via video conference down to the county level. Members of the 12th Central Guidance Group, leaders from the Provincial Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress, the Provincial Government, and the Provincial Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the President of the Provincial Court, the Procurator-General of the Provincial Procuratorate, some senior provincial officials, responsible officials from relevant provincial-level departments (units), and other relevant officials attended the meeting at the main venue.
