Good News | The Chinese Geophysical Society has established the Sichuan Office and a pilot unit for science and technology promotion in Sichuan Resource Geophysics.
On December 5, the 11th Congress of Members of the Chinese Geophysical Society was held online. The leadership team and department heads of Sichuan Resources Geophysical Exploration attended the meeting.
The Chinese Geophysical Society is a first-level society affiliated with the China Association for Science and Technology. Since February 1947, four scientists—Chen Zongqi, Gu Gongxu, Wang Zhizhuo, and Weng Wenbo—initiated the establishment of the Chinese Geophysical Society, which was officially founded in Shanghai in August 1947. Currently, the Society has 7 academician workstations, 4 key laboratories, 11 pilot units for science and technology promotion, 11 working committees, 27 academic committees, 6 publications, 3 funds, 4 sub-associations, and 5 offices.
The meeting held a vote to elect the members of the 11th Council of the Chinese Geophysical Society. Comrade Zhang Guangda, Secretary of the Party Branch, Chairman of the Board, and General Manager of the Institute of Geophysical Exploration, was elected as a council member.

According to the meeting schedule, Zhang Guangda delivered a speech online, during which he stated:
❖ I am deeply honored to be elected as a director of the 11th session of the Society. I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the trust placed in me by the Chinese Geophysical Society, which has designated Sichuan Resource Geophysics as a “Pilot Unit for Science and Technology Promotion” and appointed it as the leading organization to establish the Sichuan Office.
❖ On this new journey, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration will work closely with Professor Wang Xuben and other experts and colleagues from Sichuan’s geophysical exploration industry to carefully plan and effectively implement the Society’s arrangements and deployments. We will promote the standardized and efficient operation of the Sichuan Office and the pilot units for science and technology promotion, achieving outstanding results in areas such as application of research findings, patent inventions, awards for scientific and technological progress, academic papers, think-tank advisory services, and science popularization and publicity—thereby enhancing the reputation and prestige of the Society.
❖ The Chinese Geophysical Society plays a leading role in the geophysical exploration industry with cutting-edge technological expertise. In the days ahead, we hope that the Society’s academicians, masters, and experts will visit the Sichuan office to provide guidance in fields such as energy exploration, metallic mineral prospecting, railways, highways, water conservancy, and geological disaster prevention. This will offer Sichuan’s geophysical exploration sector even more robust intellectual and technical support, fostering its high-quality development and contributing to a new leap forward in the governance and revitalization of Sichuan.
