Sichuan Changning Natural Gas Development Co., Ltd. visited the Institute of Geophysical Exploration for a technical exchange.
On April 26, Zheng Jian, Deputy General Manager of Sichuan Changning Natural Gas Development Co., Ltd., along with a delegation of six members, visited Sichuan Zhongcheng Coalfield Geophysical Exploration Engineering Institute Co., Ltd. to conduct a technical exchange. The two sides held focused discussions on four key areas: current technological achievements, future directions for tackling technical challenges in the exploration and development of oil and gas resources in the Changning region, and how to leverage existing technological tools and methods in their work. Yu Changheng, Deputy General Manager and CFO of the Geophysical Exploration Institute, Gu Zhiwen, Deputy General Manager and Chief Engineer, and relevant technical personnel attended the exchange meeting.
Before the meeting, during their visit to the “internet-famous check-in spot” at the Geophysical Exploration Institute, Zheng Jian and his delegation highly praised the Institute’s achievements in establishing the Sichuan Office of the Chinese Geophysical Society, promoting technological innovation, and fostering industry-academia-research cooperation.

At the meeting, Yu Changheng, on behalf of the Geophysical Exploration Institute, welcomed Zheng Jian and his delegation and expressed gratitude for the long-term support provided by Sichuan Changning Natural Gas Development Co., Ltd. to the Institute’s related business activities.

During the exchange, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration provided a detailed introduction to four topics—“Detection of Geological Anomalies in Shale Gas Drilling Platforms in the Changning Area,” “Multi-layer Electrical Property Detection in the Changning Area Based on Wide-area Electromagnetic Methods,” “Application and Prospects of 3D Holographic Electromagnetic Exploration and Wide-area Electromagnetic Fracturing Monitoring Technologies for the Re-development of Old Wells—Taking the Changning H3 Platform as an Example,” and “2023 Changning Block Coalbed Methane Resource Assessment and Recommendations for Next Steps”—to relevant leaders and experts. The presentations were supplemented with case studies from actual projects that have been carried out.

After the symposium and exchange, Changning Company expressed its appreciation and recognition of the core technologies currently mastered by the Institute of Geophysical Exploration. Zheng Jian stated that the integration of oil and gas geology with engineering has become a current hot topic and a major industry trend. Holding this technical exchange is of great significance for promoting efficient exploration and development of oil and gas fields. The Institute of Geophysical Exploration boasts strengths in both production and scientific research, as well as in technology and application. By leveraging its own advantages, the institute can develop a core technological roadmap, identify key entry points, start with specific projects, strengthen cooperation, and achieve tangible results.
To ensure national energy security, we must intensify exploration and development efforts. Only through the sustained development and continuous advancement of exploration and development technologies—and by fostering technological innovation—can we effectively address the challenges currently facing oil and gas field exploration and development. Moving forward, the Geophysical Exploration Institute will fully leverage its core technological strengths to support the exploration and development of oil and gas fields in the southern Sichuan region.
