Chongqing Shale Gas Company conducts an inspection of the wide-area electromagnetic survey project at the Qitang Field Anticline in the Yuxi Block.
On June 1, Minister Zhang Haijie and his delegation from Chongqing Shale Gas Exploration and Development Co., Ltd. visited the project office of the wide-area electromagnetic survey for electrical property variations in the Longmaxi to Wufeng Formation within the Qitang Field Anticline in the western Chongqing area of the Geophysical Exploration Institute to inspect the ongoing work.
This project is located in Yongchuan District, Bishan District, and Beibei District of Chongqing Municipality. Its primary task is to conduct a wide-area electromagnetic survey covering 354.0 km around the Qitangchang syncline. The objective is to investigate the spatial distribution of low resistivity in the target shale gas strata (Longmaxi to Wufeng Formation), further refine favorable areas based on electrical parameters, and provide technical support for the comprehensive evaluation and selection of optimal exploration zones.

The inspection team visited the project department to examine the status of standardized safety construction and technical quality management, and listened to a briefing on the project’s progress.
Project Progress Report
The inspection team unanimously agreed that the project department has a sound organizational structure, a reasonably composed staff, a relatively complete safety standardization system, thorough preparation for preliminary work, sufficient availability of instruments, equipment, and materials, and a generally reasonable project schedule. The team also commended the Geophysical Exploration Institute’s achievements in wide-area electromagnetic methods in the western Chongqing block over the past two years and plans to continue conducting wide-area electromagnetic surveys in the Tongliang block in the next phase.
Zhang Haijie put forward four requirements for the project team: First, ensure the safety of power supply at the site; second, guarantee the quality of wide-area electromagnetic data acquisition; third, pay attention to heat prevention and flood control measures during summer construction; fourth, actively promote project operations and ensure that the interim results of the Qitang Field Anticline wide-area electromagnetic survey are submitted by early August. Zhang Haijie also emphasized traffic safety and electrical safety during the project’s construction period, urging the project team to keep up the good work, continue maintaining safe production, and remain vigilant.
