The Institute of Geophysical Exploration held the launch ceremony for “Safety Production Month” and conducted a special training lecture on fire safety as well as an emergency drill.
Safety Production Month
On June 7, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration held the launch ceremony for the 2023 “Safety Production Month” event, themed “Everyone Talks About Safety, Everyone Knows How to Respond to Emergencies,” in Chengdu. All cadres and employees in Chengdu attended the ceremony.
At the launching ceremony, Zhang Guangda, Secretary of the Party Branch of the Institute, Chairman of the Board, General Manager, and Director of the Safety Committee, emphasized:
First, we must elevate our political awareness and firmly focus on safe production. We need to thoroughly publicize and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Party as well as General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourses on safe production, wholeheartedly putting into practice the development philosophy of “people first, life first,” and enhancing our sense of responsibility and mission in ensuring safe production.
Second, we must carefully organize and thoroughly carry out the “Safety Production Month” activities. Taking the “Safety Production Month” as an opportunity, we should develop practical and feasible activity plans, encourage broad participation from employees, and strengthen safety awareness and enhance emergency response capabilities through these activities.
Third, we must closely monitor key links in production safety and step up efforts to identify and address potential hazards. We need to remain constantly vigilant about production safety, focusing on areas prone to accidents such as radioactive source management, vehicle safety, fire prevention, and electrical safety. We should increase the frequency and intensity of safety inspections, strengthen source-based governance, and make concerted efforts to enhance the inherent level of safety.
Gu Zhiwen, a member of the Party Branch Committee of the Institute, Deputy General Manager and Chief Engineer, and Deputy Director of the Safety Committee, made arrangements and deployments for the 2023 “Safety Production Month” campaign, urging all departments and levels within the Institute to actively respond to the activities of this “Safety Production Month” and enhance safety awareness among all employees.
After the launching ceremony concluded, the attendees collectively watched the special warning education film titled “A Lesson from Life.”
At the event site, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration also invited instructors from the Chengdu Pre-emptive Fire Safety Promotion Center to deliver a special training session on fire safety to all participants. Using PowerPoint presentations, the instructors provided a detailed introduction to the correct techniques for performing the Heimlich maneuver, as well as explanations of the causes and progression of fires and basic knowledge about daily fire prevention and firefighting measures. They further illustrated the tragic consequences of fires with several recent, real-life cases that were both shocking and thought-provoking. After the lecture, the Chengdu Pre-emptive Fire Safety Promotion Center, in collaboration with the Institute’s Equipment and Safety Supervision Department, organized an emergency fire evacuation drill for employees working in Chengdu.
Next, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration will continue to vigorously carry out various safety production education activities—such as the “Ankang Cup” knowledge competitions, emergency drills, and hazard identification and elimination—centered around the theme “Everyone Talks Safety, Everyone Knows How to Respond to Emergencies,” thereby fostering a safety culture and providing strong support for the high-quality development of the Sichuan Institute of Resource Geophysics.
