Recently, Zhang Guangda, Secretary of the Party Branch, Chairman, and General Manager of the Geophysical Exploration Institute, led a team to the Changning Wide-Area Project Department to hold a technical seminar on key projects in the southern Sichuan region.

After conducting on-site inspections of the electromagnetic method construction project and surveying the production from the shale gas development platform, the project team organized a technical workshop. The workshop was divided into four thematic sessions: acceptance of electromagnetic data acquisition for the Dalicun Project in Gulin; a technical seminar on wide-area electromagnetic exploration for shale gas in the Changning area; a summary of fracture monitoring in the Changning area; and a seminar on the detection of geological anomalies from 0 to 1,000 meters at wellsite platforms in 2022.

At the acceptance meeting for electromagnetic data acquisition of the Gulin Dacun Project, the project team conducted a phased inspection of technical quality and safe production for the ground geophysical exploration project aimed at supplementing the preliminary mining area of Well No. 2 in Lijiazhai, Gulin County, Sichuan Province. The team also focused on discussing approaches for processing and interpreting the preliminary results, providing valuable guidance for the next stage of comprehensive interpretation. The expert panel gave positive feedback on the project team’s technical documentation and urged the team to strictly control data quality and enhance interpretation accuracy in the next phase of work. They also emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety and boosting production. Zhang Guangda stressed the need to effectively ensure project safety and quality, earnestly implement green exploration practices, and successfully complete the project’s later-stage tasks.

At the technical work summary meeting for the Changning area, each project team conducted focused discussions and technical summaries around three key projects carried out in 2023 in the Changning area: wide-area exploration, fracture monitoring, and detection of geological anomalies from 0 to 1,000 meters at wellsite platforms. The meeting analyzed the refined results of wide-area electromagnetic surveys for shale gas in the Changning area, the timeliness of using fracture-monitoring results to guide shale-gas development and fracturing operations, and the foresight and feasibility of adopting integrated engineering technologies at drilling platforms for green production. Based on the Geophysical Institute’s technological achievements and highlight work in these three areas during 2023, the meeting identified the next-step development needs and critical technological bottlenecks in the Changning area. It also preliminarily outlined the work directions and technical approaches for geophysical exploration and development projects in the Changning area for 2024, laying a solid foundation for the Geophysical Institute to serve its clients with professional expertise and outstanding results.

The two-day conference saw participants engage in in-depth exchanges and discussions, focusing on deepening technical research and continuously transforming the geophysical exploration institute’s core technologies into productive forces, thereby achieving tangible results in promoting the institute’s high-quality development.
