On February 28, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration held its 2024 Technical Quality and Training Conference. More than 60 participants attended the meeting, including members of the Institute’s Technical Quality Leadership Group, senior managers and experts, heads of relevant departments within the Institute, and all professional technical personnel based in Chengdu. The meeting was chaired by Gu Zhiwen, a member of the Institute’s Party Branch Committee, Deputy General Manager, and Chief Engineer.

The meeting, centered around the theme of “Identifying shortcomings, enhancing measures, pursuing practical results, and further improving excellence,” summarized the Geophysical Exploration Institute’s technical quality management and technological innovation efforts for 2023. It focused on carefully examining and analyzing the major issues and shortcomings in technical quality management. In response to these issues and shortcomings, members of the Institute’s Technical Quality Leadership Group put forward specific corrective requirements, emphasizing the need to strengthen measures for finding solutions, effectively implement the technical quality management system, and further standardize and proceduralize work in areas such as technical quality control, archiving of research results, and technological innovation.

At the meeting, some of the project’s technical core personnel, drawing on practical experience from ongoing projects and using several typical cases as examples, provided a comprehensive explanation and analysis of the key technical quality considerations and challenges that need to be carefully addressed throughout the entire process—from project commencement and site entry, through data collection and data interpretation, to result verification and final document submission—in various types of projects such as electrical methods, seismic safety assessments, well logging, and water conservation. This provided the attending professional technicians with a highly practical and down-to-earth professional training session. Senior managers and experts from the institute also offered valuable suggestions and insights on how to further strengthen and effectively enhance the institute’s overall technical quality management efforts.

The meeting emphasized that, in the next phase of work, we must further strengthen the systematization, standardization, and normalization of the technical quality management system. We should deeply integrate technical quality management and scientific and technological innovation with production and operations, intensify efforts in scientific and technological innovation, and drive the institute’s technical quality management and scientific and technological innovation to achieve new breakthroughs and reach new heights.
