Understanding the Path to Safe and Sustainable Development at the Institute Through the “Three Stages of Lichun”—Geophysical Exploration Institute Holds 2024 Work Resumption and Production Safety Education and Training Session
On February 29, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration held a 2024 work resumption and production safety education and training meeting. Members of the Institute’s Safety Committee based in Chengdu, senior managers, heads of various departments, and specialized technical personnel stationed in Chengdu attended the meeting. Gu Zhiwen, a member of the Institute’s Party Branch Committee, Deputy General Manager, and Chief Engineer, chaired the meeting and conveyed the spirit of the Group’s “Notice on Thoroughly Carrying Out Work Resumption and Production Safety Work After the 2024 Spring Festival.”

The first period, “The east wind thaws the ice,” prompts reflection on existing issues in production safety. The meeting centered closely around the theme of “Identifying shortcomings, devising countermeasures, addressing weak points, and promoting safety.” It summarized the Geophysical Exploration Institute’s 2023 production safety work and discussed and analyzed the current problems in production safety management. Heads of various functional departments and representatives of field operation personnel, drawing on their own practical experiences, raised specific issues related to project safety management—including electromagnetic exploration, well logging, wide-area electromagnetic exploration, wide-area electrical-fracturing monitoring, and water conservation—in areas such as project safety management, fire and electrical safety, management of migrant workers, road safety, and radioactive source management.
The second phase, “Hibernating insects begin to stir,” calls for measures to enhance safe production. Members of the Institute’s Safety Committee and senior managers carefully discussed and analyzed the issues and shortcomings raised by various functional departments, emphasizing the need to elevate political awareness and take systematic institutional development, continuous improvement through standardized safety production, and safety education and training as key drivers. They pledged to make concerted efforts in management and other areas to ensure that safe production is effectively implemented and to raise the Institute’s overall level of safety production.
The third phase, “Fish Ascend Over Frozen Ice,” underscores the importance of enhancing safety production skills. At the meeting, representatives from various field operation departments explained the features, parameter performance, and safe operating procedures of instruments such as logging probes, electromagnetic instruments, and wide-area electromagnetic fracturing monitoring systems. They also conducted hands-on demonstrations of these devices and shared insights into common issues that may arise during field operations, along with appropriate solutions. Following the indoor session, experienced drivers with extensive field driving expertise provided detailed instruction on vehicle performance, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting for models including the BJ40 off-road vehicle, Iveco, and Nissan off-road vehicles owned by the institute. Additionally, they shared valuable tips and lessons learned on safe driving practices.

The convening of this meeting is not only a refocusing session aimed at aligning all staff on the importance of safe production, but also a safety education and training session designed to identify, analyze, and address existing issues. The responsibility for safe production is as heavy as Mount Tai. In the coming work, the Geophysical Exploration Institute will firmly shoulder its safety and environmental protection responsibilities, conscientiously implement the “Three Controls and Three Musts” principle and the full-staff safety production accountability system, enhance the safety awareness of all employees, and ensure high-quality development through high-level safety guarantees.
