On November 14, the finals of the 2nd Sichuan Province Natural Resources Science Communication Lecture Competition, hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Natural Resources and organized by the Provincial Geological Society and the Zigong Dinosaur Museum, concluded successfully at the Zigong Dinosaur Museum. Twelve contestants from natural resource agencies, science popularization bases, museums, and other institutions across the province advanced to the finals, engaging in an exciting and diverse competition of science communication presentations. Gu Zhiwen, a contestant from the Institute of Geophysical Exploration, participated in this final round and was awarded an Excellence Prize.

During the competition, Gu Zhiwen presented a talk titled “Geophysical Exploration Technology for Three-Dimensional Subsurface Imaging of Shale Gas.” Skillfully employing vivid case studies and figurative analogies, he transformed obscure and complex technical terms into accessible, engaging popular science language. His presentation showcased the unique allure of geophysical exploration technology, enabling the judges and audience present to experience the exquisite harmony between nature and technology.
Gu Zhiwen’s outstanding performance in the competition not only showcased the prowess of Sichuan’s geophysical exploration professionals but also reflected the fruits of the Institute of Geophysical Exploration’s years of commitment to technological innovation and talent development. In the future, the Institute will continue to uphold the philosophy of “technological innovation,” persist in pursuing a path of “specialization, refinement, and novelty,” and take this competition as an opportunity to further inspire all staff members’ enthusiasm for innovation and their awareness of science popularization. We will continuously enhance our technical expertise and service capabilities, thereby contributing more wisdom and strength to the vigorous development of Sichuan’s Natural Resources sector.
