The Geophysical Exploration Institute won the first prize in the Group’s inaugural Employee Innovation and Efficiency Competition.

On September 6, the Group’s first Employee Innovation and Efficiency Competition concluded successfully in Chengdu. After intense and fierce competition, the “Shale Gas Electromagnetic Intelligent Detection Innovative Technology” project submitted by the Geophysical Exploration Institute stood out among numerous outstanding entries with its exceptional innovative technology and impressive on-site presentation, earning first place and winning the competition’s top prize.

This competition is organized by the Group’s Trade Union and is themed “Innovating to Enhance Efficiency, Empowering Reform and Development, and Pooling Wisdom and Innovation to Serve Our Resource-Rich Province.” It aims to foster and vigorously develop new-quality productive forces, unleash the innovative potential of employees, actively cultivate an atmosphere of innovation, nurture innovative talent, and promote the transformation of innovative achievements into real productive forces. The competition attracted extensive participation from 33 innovation and efficiency-enhancing projects submitted by various units within the Group. After rigorous screening and preliminary rounds, 12 projects ultimately stood out and advanced to the finals.

The “Innovative Technology for Electromagnetic Intelligent Exploration of Shale Gas,” which the Institute of Geophysical Exploration is entering in this competition, was developed by an innovation team based on the “Liu Jinhui Innovation Studio.” The team currently has 11 members, including 9 with master’s and doctoral degrees, and an average age of 33. Relying on their solid professional expertise and extensive practical experience in the field of geophysical exploration, the team has continuously tackled technical challenges and innovatively developed this intelligent exploration system that employs multiple methods, operates across multiple scales, and measures multiple parameters. This system effectively addresses key difficulties and bottlenecks in shale gas development projects in the Sichuan Basin, including geological challenges, environmental protection concerns, water source pollution issues, and uncertainties related to shale gas content.

With the widespread adoption and application of this innovative technology, it has now become an indispensable tool for environmental assessment in shale gas development. The cumulative economic benefits generated by shale gas drilling have reached 2 billion yuan. This not only ensures the smooth production of shale gas but also brings immeasurable value to environmental protection and ecological safety in shale gas development areas.

For a long time, the Party Branch and the Trade Union of the Geophysical Exploration Institute have attached great importance to scientific and technological innovation, consistently regarding it as the core driving force behind development. They have established a diversified, high-level innovation platform centered around “one station and four laboratories,” which provides solid support for the institute’s scientific and technological progress. Through activities such as mentorship programs, competitions for outstanding papers, contests for technological achievements, and innovation-and-efficiency contests, the institute has strengthened employees’ skills and unleashed their innovative potential. This competition not only identified a group of excellent innovative projects but also fostered a positive innovation atmosphere, encouraging employees to think creatively and boldly in their daily work, thereby injecting fresh vitality into the institute’s scientific and technological innovation efforts.

The day following the competition happened to be the festival of Bailu. Bailu symbolizes the harvest, accumulation, and transformation that lie ahead. This victory will further inspire the Geophysical Exploration Institute to keep forging ahead on the path of innovation, continuing to focus on the Group’s core businesses and vigorously developing new forms of productive forces. We will actively contribute our innovative strength to the cause of keeping Sichuan gas in Sichuan and enriching Sichuan with its own gas resources, thus making new breakthroughs in oil and gas blocks and achieving even greater accomplishments.
