Safety Production Month | The Geophysical Exploration Institute Launches the 2024 “Fire Safety Up Close, Safety Goes Hand in Hand with Me” Campaign
On the afternoon of June 12, in active response to the theme of the Safety Production Month—“Everyone Talks Safety, Everyone Knows How to Respond—Keep Lifelines Clear”—and to enhance employees’ awareness of fire safety and improve their ability to prevent and self-rescue in case of fire, the Geophysical Exploration Institute organized its Chengdu-based staff to visit the Qingjiang West Road Fire Rescue Station in Chengdu for the 2024 “Firefighting Up Close, Safety Goes Hand in Hand” event.

During the event, firefighters led everyone on a tour of specialized fire vehicles, including the Isuzu main battle tank, the Isuzu foam truck, and the 56-meter high-rise fire truck. They also provided detailed explanations about the purposes and equipment configurations of each type of fire vehicle.
Firefighters demonstrated and introduced the different uses of various firefighting garments, including fire-fighting suits, thermal-insulation suits, light-duty chemical protective suits, and heavy-duty chemical protective suits. They also provided a demonstration on how to properly put on fire-fighting gear and invited employees from the Geophysical Exploration Institute to try them on and experience firsthand.
The firefighters explained to everyone the procedure for connecting two fire hoses by one person, as well as the relevant safety precautions. They specifically highlighted common issues that tend to arise when connecting fire hoses and then demonstrated the process of connecting two hoses by one person.
Subsequently, to enhance the self-defense and self-rescue capabilities of the geophysical exploration institute’s staff at fire scenes, firefighters explained to everyone the precautions for escaping from a fire scene and the correct methods for using different types of fire extinguishers. They also organized an emergency evacuation drill in a smoke-filled escape tent and a fire-fighting emergency exercise for all participants.

The implementation of this “Fire Safety Up Close, Safety by My Side” event has not only enabled all employees of the Geophysical Exploration Institute to further master basic fire prevention and self-rescue skills, but has also allowed everyone to deeply appreciate the spirit and dedication of firefighters who devote their youth and sweat wholeheartedly to serving the people. In our future work, we must always keep in mind the principle of “fire safety—constant vigilance,” remain ever alert to the importance of safe production, and promote high-quality development through high-quality safety.
