The Institute of Geophysical Exploration convened a symposium on the construction of field test sites for the Major Deep-Earth Project.
To efficiently advance Deep-Earth Major Special Project To implement and standardize the construction of experimental test sites for downhole geophysical instruments, thereby supporting the upgrading of provincial pilot‑scale platforms, on June 15, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration convened an exchange seminar on the development of field test sites for the “Downhole Geophysical Instrument Demonstration Zone Selection” under the Major National Project on Deep Earth Exploration.
The meeting focused on key issues, including the physical‑property conditions of the demonstration zone, the hallmark characteristics of mineral resources, the selection and justification of optimal well locations, the compatibility of drilling technologies, and the seamless integration and coordination of Sichuan Province’s pilot‑scale platform. Participants conducted a comprehensive review of the major challenges and critical bottlenecks in the construction of the test site, while advancing the coordinated implementation of project development, the consolidation of research‑platform resources, technological testing, and the practical application of research outcomes.
This conference has invited leading industry experts to provide expert guidance. Institute of Mining Technology, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences A team of experts, including the deputy director, the dean of the School of Geophysics and Information at China University of Geosciences, and a professor at Chengdu University of Technology, has, drawing on deep‑earth exploration technical standards and field‑operation realities, put forward numerous professional and constructive recommendations on aspects such as demonstration‑area site selection and feasibility studies, well‑location optimization and layout, drilling‑process selection, and test‑scenario adaptation. These inputs have helped clarify the project’s strategic direction, mitigate technical risks, and provide critical technical support for its high‑quality advancement.
Going forward, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration will comprehensively incorporate and implement the experts’ recommendations, refine and enhance the implementation plan, and deepen all aspects of the demonstration zone’s development. Focusing on… Wellbore Geophysical Exploration Addressing the need for standardization in instrument testing, we are scientifically advancing the construction of standardized test wells to establish a specialized field‑testing site characterized by superior conditions, comprehensive parameter coverage, and high adaptability. At the same time, we are closely aligning with the provincial pilot‑scale platform development plan, leveraging standardized testing facilities to continuously conduct performance evaluations, technological upgrades, and experimental validation of geophysical instruments. These efforts are fully geared toward driving innovation in deep‑earth geophysical equipment and promoting its domestic application, thereby providing robust support for cutting‑edge research and breakthroughs in deep‑earth resource exploration.
