On June 24, at the “State-Owned Enterprises Heart to the Party, Youth Create the Future” innovation and efficiency competition held in Chengdu, the Engineering Geophysical Assault Team from the Geophysical Exploration Institute, representing the Group, won first prize with their project “Integrated Engineering Geophysical Technologies and Their Application in Shale Gas Development.” Standing out from over 180 participating teams, they earned this prestigious award thanks to their outstanding technological innovation and remarkable practical achievements!

On the competition stage, the young commando team used 3D technical animations and scenario-based performances to eloquently explain the “intelligent core” of integrated geophysical exploration technologies and their application scenarios in shale gas development. The results closely align with the nation’s energy strategy needs and directly address the critical challenges posed by complex geological conditions and shallow-drilling risks in shale gas development in the Sichuan Basin.

For many years, the Geophysical Exploration Institute has been deeply rooted in the frontline of shale gas development in the Sichuan Basin, directly confronting the challenges posed by complex geological conditions and the risks associated with shallow drilling. Relying on the Group’s innovation platform and the technological strengths of the Geophysics Innovation Studio, the Institute has developed an integrated inversion method for detecting and identifying underground geological anomalies. It has also established a multi-scale, multi-parameter exploration technology system and created a specialized geological risk assessment and detection system. These innovative breakthroughs have made it impossible for geological risks in shale gas drilling to remain hidden, enabling precise prediction and effective evaluation.

Since its implementation and application, the integrated geophysical exploration technology has been widely adopted on more than 60 shale gas drilling platforms. It not only provides solid support for optimizing drilling design but also successfully helps avoid risks related to well sites, environmental protection, and drilling accidents, cumulatively generating economic benefits totaling 466 million yuan and harnessing the power of science and technology to fuel innovation and value creation. Meanwhile, these technological achievements have also strengthened ecological safeguards in areas such as water source protection zones and environmental impact assessments, faithfully fulfilling the solemn commitment of “guardians of resources” to safeguard people’s lives and preserve our green mountains and clear waters.

From breaking the foreign technology monopoly to safeguarding ecological barriers through green exploration; from young minds overcoming technological bottlenecks to driving development via innovation across the entire industrial chain—youth members of the Geophysical Innovation Studio are putting the “Three Transformations and Three Enhancements” requirements into practice with concrete actions. They use intelligent algorithms to precisely pinpoint drilling coordinates and harness innovative technologies to weave an ecological protection network.

In the future, the Geophysical Exploration Institute will continue to charge ahead with youthful vigor, closely following the Group’s “Three Transformations and Three Enhancements” action guidelines. Using innovative technologies as our brush and practical dedication as our ink, we will make steady progress in the year dedicated to capability enhancement, writing a vibrant chapter of innovation and efficiency in the field of Natural Resources for the new era!
