On March 15, Zhou Ning, team leader of the Geophysical Exploration Team (hereinafter referred to as “the Geophysical Exploration Team”) at the Provincial Institute of Geological Survey, together with Liu Weijun, Party Secretary, and a delegation of seven members, visited our institute (hereinafter referred to as “the Geophysical Exploration Institute”) for an exchange and discussion. Attending the meeting were the institute’s leadership team—Zhang Guangda, Yu Changheng, and Gu Zhiwen—as well as Jia Jianchao, a senior-level engineer specializing in geophysical exploration, and heads of relevant departments.

Zhou Ning, the captain of the geophysical exploration team, provided an overview of the team, covering its historical development, personnel structure, core business, market expansion, and future development plans. Since its establishment, the geophysical exploration team has focused primarily on geological prospecting. While staying true to its original mission of gravity and electromagnetic surveys, the team has promptly carried out industrial optimization and upgrades, vigorously promoting its services in urban underground pipeline detection. It has also stepped up its efforts in providing services related to urban geology, environmental geology, agricultural geology, and ecological geology—fields closely linked to new-type urbanization—and is making concerted efforts to build new competitive advantages for future growth.

After jointly watching the geophysical exploration institute’s promotional video, “New Geophysical Exploration in the Making,” Zhang Guangda highlighted that, in recent years, the institute has tapped into the oil and gas market by leveraging integrated engineering geophysical exploration technologies. Relying on the academician He Jishan’s workstation, the institute has actively pursued technological innovation, successfully applying the wide-area electromagnetic method and extending its use to areas such as shale gas exploration and fracture monitoring. By deeply cultivating the oil and gas market and delivering superior technical quality and comprehensive technical services, the institute has earned unanimous high recognition from oil and gas industry clients.

During the exchange, both sides reached a consensus: Although both organizations are geophysical exploration teams, they each have different areas of focus. Moving forward, they hope to leverage each other’s strengths, complement one another’s advantages, share resources and expertise, and strengthen their cooperation and exchanges. Under the broader context of reform in geological exploration institutions, they will continue to explore further possibilities for geophysical exploration technologies in emerging economic sectors, thereby making greater contributions to both national and local economic development.
