Secretary-General Guo Jian visits Sichuan to conduct an inspection and research on resource geophysical exploration.
On November 1, Guo Jian, Secretary-General of the Chinese Geophysical Society, and Xue Guoqiang, Deputy Secretary-General, led an expert research team to Sichuan Zhongcheng Coalfield Geophysical Exploration Engineering Institute Co., Ltd. to conduct on-site inspections and surveys regarding the Institute’s application for designation as a “Pilot Unit for Science and Technology Promotion by the Chinese Geophysical Society” and its leading role in establishing the “Sichuan Office of the Chinese Geophysical Society.”
Guo Jian and his delegation first visited some of the nation’s and internationally advanced, high-precision instruments and equipment used by the Institute of Geophysical Exploration, including well logging, seismic, electromagnetic methods, wide-field electromagnetic methods, and airborne electromagnetic methods.
Subsequently, the inspection and research meeting was held under the chairmanship of Wang Xuben, Director of the Key Laboratory of Earth Exploration and Information Technology, Ministry of Education, at Chengdu University of Technology. At the meeting, attendees watched a promotional video titled “Sichuan Resource Geophysical Exploration.” Zhang Guangda, Secretary of the Party Branch, Chairman of the Board, and General Manager of the Geophysical Exploration Institute, introduced the institute’s basic information, its development over the past few years, and the geophysical exploration achievements it has made. Yu Changheng, Deputy General Manager and Chief Financial Officer, delivered a detailed report covering three aspects: the institute’s business areas, its high-tech achievements, and the supporting conditions for technology promotion.
Well-known geophysical experts from relevant universities and enterprises within the province, starting from the current realities of the geophysical exploration industry in Sichuan Province, elaborated on and analyzed the necessity and urgency of establishing the Sichuan Branch Office of the Chinese Geophysical Society. They expressed admiration and gratitude for the Geophysical Exploration Institute’s proactive leadership in initiating the establishment of this branch office, and also offered numerous valuable suggestions for the Institute’s future development.
Xue Guoqiang highly praised the development and achievements of the Geophysical Exploration Institute, describing it as an established, distinctive, and dynamic professional geophysical exploration team. He noted that such a team is precisely what the broad platform of the Chinese Geophysical Society needs. At the same time, he also suggested that the Institute should step up its efforts in talent cultivation and strive to leave an even greater mark in the development of new methods and technologies.
Guo Jian introduced the basic information and responsibilities of the Chinese Geophysical Society and its local offices, and stated that the Chinese Geophysical Society will provide support and assistance in areas such as academic exchanges, science popularization, and think tank development. The establishment of the Sichuan Office of the Chinese Geophysical Society will help further strengthen technical exchanges, communication, and cooperation among geological exploration units, research institutions, academic organizations, and other relevant entities within the province, playing a significant role in promoting the development of geophysical technology in Sichuan.
Zhang Guangda expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the inspection and research team as well as all the experts for their care and support toward the Geophysical Exploration Institute. He also stated that, following the establishment of the Sichuan Office of the Chinese Geophysical Society and designation as a pilot unit for science and technology promotion by the Chinese Geophysical Society, the Institute will continue to increase investment in geophysical instruments and equipment as well as new exploration methods. Moreover, it will strengthen talent development and industry-academia-research cooperation, further expand its service scope, and provide society with even better services and technological support, thereby helping the geophysical exploration sector reach a new level.
