The geophysical exploration institute’s gas pressure testing project for the Chuanwen Expressway tunnel is progressing smoothly.
The special gas exploration project for the Chuanwen Expressway tunnels has recently been launched in Maodian and Songpan counties, as well as other areas in Aba Prefecture, Sichuan Province. The gas pressure testing work within this project is being undertaken by the Institute of Geophysical Exploration.
In the specialized exploration of tunnel gas, the gas pressure testing phase is extremely important. As a flammable and explosive gas, if not handled properly, gas can pose significant hazards to tunnel construction projects. To ensure the safe advancement of tunnel engineering, it is essential to conduct gas pressure tests to determine the magnitude and trend of gas pressure, assess the level of gas hazard, and then implement targeted preventive measures accordingly.
The gas pressure testing project undertaken by the Geophysical Exploration Institute is located in the high-altitude region of western Sichuan, where working conditions are harsh. The area experiences extreme diurnal temperature fluctuations ranging from -5°C to 25°C, with exceptionally dry outdoor conditions and intense ultraviolet radiation under direct sunlight. To complete the task with high quality and efficiency, the institute’s team has demonstrated remarkable perseverance, braving both cold winds and scorching sun, carrying testing equipment on their shoulders, and repeatedly traversing mountains and crossing ridges—often spending over an hour hiking to the construction site—in order to ensure accurate gas pressure data collection and comprehensive parameter testing, thereby providing crucial technical support and assurance for the safe construction and subsequent operation of the tunnel.
Currently, all aspects of the project are progressing smoothly. Following the completion of gas pressure tests at three boreholes, the Sichuan Resource Geophysical Exploration team has once again earned high praise from all parties for their hardworking spirit, dedication, and optimistic commitment.
