The Institute of Geophysical Exploration held a meeting on disaster prevention and reduction safety work.
On September 5, Zhang Guangda, Secretary of the Party Branch, Chairman of the Board, and General Manager of the Geophysical Exploration Institute, presided over a meeting on disaster prevention and reduction safety at the Institute. Members of the Institute’s leadership team and heads of various departments attended the meeting.
The meeting conveyed and studied the important instructions and directives issued by General Secretary Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang regarding the “8·21” flash flood disaster in Jinyang County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province, as well as the spirit of the Sichuan Province Teleconference on Disaster Prevention, Mitigation, and Work Safety and the video conference of the Provincial Natural Resources Investment Group on disaster prevention, mitigation, and work safety. The meeting also reported on recent developments in work safety at the Geophysical Exploration Institute and made arrangements and deployments for key work tasks in the next phase of work safety.
● Zhang Guangda emphasized
First, we must elevate our political awareness and firmly shoulder our responsibilities. We must fully implement the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping regarding the “8·21” flash flood disaster in Jinyang, adhere to the principle of “two priorities,” remain constantly vigilant about safe production, and effectively carry out the full-staff responsibility system for safe production.
Second, we must carefully conduct self-checks and do a thorough job in disaster prevention and mitigation. We need to deeply learn from the lessons of past accidents and take them as warnings. Each project department should step up its efforts in disaster-prevention and mitigation publicity, develop and refine relevant emergency response plans, and re-assess and analyze the geological hazard conditions near their project sites. We must absolutely avoid complacency and carelessness.
Third, we must draw inferences from one instance and implement targeted measures. Each project team should continue to focus on all aspects of safe production. We should zero in on areas prone to safety accidents—such as geological hazard risks, management of labor personnel, vehicle safety, fire prevention, and electrical safety—and step up efforts to identify and address potential hazards, promptly rectifying and eliminating these safety risks.
The responsibility for safe production is as heavy as Mount Tai. Only by maintaining a constant and unwavering focus on safe production—approaching our current efforts in disaster prevention, mitigation, and safe production with a high sense of political responsibility, full enthusiasm, and a pragmatic work style—can we successfully embark on the path of high-quality development for the institute.
