Yunnan
The drilling and logging project for the Gaozhai-Baixiangba phosphate mine exploration in Yangchang Phosphate Mining Area, Zhenxiong County, Yunnan Province, is located deep in the mountains. In golden October, amid lingering autumn rains, the area features steep, mountainous terrain and muddy, slippery roads, posing considerable challenges for the logging personnel. The logging winch had to be carried up the mountain by “climbing ivy,” while other equipment required project staff to hike uphill for an hour, carrying it on their backs. To meet the tight schedule, accelerate progress, and ensure smooth field operations, the project team remained steadfast in the field even on the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China—a time when the entire nation was celebrating with joy—continuing to dedicate their efforts to the nation’s mineral and energy endeavors.

Guangdong
The Guangdong Province Yangxi County West No. 1 Mining Area Granite Exploration Project is a key initiative undertaken by Yangxi County to fully leverage its abundant granite resources for construction purposes, ensure the rational utilization of mineral resources, secure the supply of stone materials for major infrastructure projects, meet market demand in the construction sector, and promote the economic development of Yangxi County. Since fieldwork began in early July, the project team has overcome challenging weather conditions—including typhoons and persistent high temperatures—working around the clock to carry out surveying, drilling operations, and geological investigations. Even during the National Day holiday, the project team remained steadfast at their posts and is expected to complete the fieldwork ahead of schedule after the holiday.

Sichuan
01 Changning Project
The southern Sichuan region boasts an eco-friendly ecological environment, but its shallow geological conditions are complex, with numerous surface drinking water sources and ecological redlines. During shale gas exploration and drilling, encountering karst formations and mined-out areas in the shallow strata frequently leads to problems such as well leakage, water influx, and drill string failures. These issues not only prolong project timelines and increase costs but also heighten environmental risks, severely hindering the large-scale, green development of shale gas.
During the National Day holiday, all members of the Changning Electromagnetic Method Project Team remained at their posts. Through detailed engineering geological and hydrogeological surveys, they developed a scientifically sound exploration plan and employed advanced geophysical methods and equipment to acquire critical geological information, including the bedrock-cover interface, karst conduits, coal mine goaf areas, fracture zones, tectonic fault zones, and groundwater connectivity. This data has supported the platform’s environmental assessment, pre-drilling and drilling design, and construction operations, ensuring the scientific reliability of the platform site selection prior to drilling, avoiding redundant construction, and effectively controlling investment risks associated with the project. The team has provided crucial technical support for the construction of the Changning-Weiyuan National Shale Gas Demonstration Zone and the Southern Sichuan Shale Gas Exploration and Development Pilot Zone, thereby accelerating the development of shale gas resources in southern Sichuan.

02 Yibin Project
① During the Double Festival period, the wide-area exploration team from the Geophysical Exploration Institute—whose members have long been dedicated to shale gas exploration—wore red uniforms and carried wide-area detection equipment as they stepped boldly into the embrace of the earth in Shuzhou District, Yibin City. They remained steadfastly committed to their work amid towering mountains and rugged terrain, contributing to the development of Sichuan’s shale gas industry and making the holiday season even more meaningful.
This project employs the wide-field electromagnetic method to delineate the structural characteristics of the Tiangongtang anticline axis in areas with intense surface topographic variations and complex subsurface geology. It represents another new exploration undertaken by our institute in using the wide-field electromagnetic method for fault detection.
The construction area features rugged and complex terrain and a harsh natural environment, posing numerous challenges to safe production. During the holiday period, Zhang Guangda, Secretary of the Party Branch, Chairman, and General Manager of the Geophysical Exploration Institute, along with his delegation, visited the site in person to show concern for the project’s safety and progress. They listened carefully to the project’s work arrangements during the holiday and emphasized that the project team should further refine and implement security measures to ensure the project is completed safely, with high quality, and on schedule.
② Well Yi 215 is located in Nanmuping, Shangzhou Town, Yibin City. The platform is situated amidst a deeply dissected, mountainous terrain. This well is an evaluation well converted from a vertical to a horizontal configuration, and wide-area electromagnetic monitoring conducted at this site holds profound reference value for the subsequent development of the platform and well area.
During the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, all members of the wide-area electromagnetic monitoring team remained steadfast at their posts, overcoming challenges such as steep, mountainous terrain, drizzling autumn rains, and slippery roads. They delivered high-quality monitoring results that provide valuable scientific references for shale gas fracturing operations.
③ The Ning 209H51 platform is located in Daba Miao Township, Xingwen County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province. The project team arrived on site in early September. During the operation period, it was the rainy season. Since many of the survey points were situated on mountainous terrain, project members had to carry instruments and cables by hand and on their shoulders to reach the designated locations, thereby completing the monitoring tasks. Right now, as we celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, the fracturing operations at the platform are proceeding smoothly. Members of the Ning 209H51 platform project team remain steadfast at their posts, diligently performing their monitoring duties.

03 Gulin Project
The geophysical exploration project at Well No. 2 in Lijiazhai, Dacun Town, Gulin County, is intended to conduct supplementary exploration within the mining area delineated for Well No. 2 in Lijiazhai. The geophysical methods selected for this project are Audio Magnetotelluric (AMT) and Transient Electromagnetic (TEM) methods. From September to November, the project area experienced little rainfall and pleasantly cool weather—ideal conditions for fieldwork in geophysical exploration. Taking full advantage of these favorable circumstances, the project team members pressed ahead with the work schedule while ensuring safety and maintaining high-quality standards. Throughout the project’s implementation, team members learned from each other and made joint progress, fostering a close and collaborative working relationship that laid a solid foundation for advancing the project.
Under the support and supervision of the hospital leadership and the expert team, in order to ensure the smooth progress of the project, the project management team rigorously implements the eight key elements of safe production and the corresponding management standards for green exploration, and vigorously carries out safety education and hazard identification efforts. At the same time, the team is actively engaged in a series of activities aimed at ensuring quality and boosting production, striving to establish this project as an outstanding model project.

04 Weiyuan Project
Well Wei 215 is located in Yong’an Town, Shizhong District, Neijiang City, and the survey line passes through a scenic area. It’s currently the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday period, yet the project team members are staying at their posts. To ensure the high quality of project completion, the platform construction is being managed under an upgraded system.

Inner Mongolia
During the Double Holiday period—National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival—the North China Fracturing Monitoring Team remained steadfastly at their posts. After concluding the fracturing monitoring project at Well J30-5-P20 in Inner Mongolia’s North China region, the team members shifted to Well Shanping 8-8 in Changqing, Gansu Province. Well Shanping 8-8 is a pilot well for re-fracturing old wells at the Second Oil Production Plant of the Changqing Oilfield, and its results will provide valuable guidance for future re-fracturing operations on similar old wells. The well is located on the Loess Plateau, at an elevation of approximately 2,000 meters. The terrain is high and rugged, with deep river valleys and steep valley slopes. Erosion in the gullies and ravines is particularly severe. Moreover, the rainy season in September has made the roads muddy, further complicating construction efforts. Despite these challenges, the project personnel have risen to the occasion, making careful arrangements and ensuring that the project is now proceeding smoothly and in an orderly manner.

Chengdu
At the Geophysical Exploration Institute, there’s also a group of staff who quietly and steadfastly remain at their posts. They hold down the “rear base” in the office, providing support to the “frontline,” and fight alongside the project team members to ensure smooth operations during holidays.

Accompanied by mountains and rivers, and neighbors of the sun, moon, and stars—this is the true portrayal of the geophysical exploration team at Sichuan Resources Group. Facing hardships and difficulties not merely as a mindset, but as a deep-seated belief, an emotional commitment, a spiritual essence, and an endless source of motivation that spurs them onward with courage and determination. They have no grand pronouncements; only diligent and conscientious dedication. They make no earth-shattering feats; only heartfelt love for their work and selfless devotion. Firmly believing that the future will surely shine brightly, they fear neither the current obstacles nor the long road ahead.
