On April 15, the Geophysical Exploration Institute attended the “2024 Annual Review Meeting for Science and Technology Projects in Exploration Techniques” organized by the Group’s Mineral Resources Technology Department. Li Shirong, a member of the Group’s Party Committee and Chief Engineer, Hu Chuansheng, Deputy Director of the Mineral Resources Technology Department, and experts and technical personnel from the Geophysical Exploration Institute, the Geological Exploration Institute, and the Survey & Design Group also participated in the meeting.

The geophysical exploration institute’s scientific and technological projects, “Application Research of Wide-Field Electromagnetic Fracturing Monitoring in the Development of Shale Gas Blocks in Southern Sichuan” and “Demonstration Study on 3D Holographic Electromagnetic Exploration Technology for Re-development of Old Shale Gas Wells,” participated in the review. This project approval review was conducted through on-site presentations, expert questioning, and deliberations. During the review process, the project leaders from the geophysical exploration institute presented and reported on their projects from various aspects, including research objectives and tasks, research technical approaches and plans, anticipated technical and economic indicators and benefit metrics, key technical features and innovative points, project funding estimates, and analysis of potential application prospects for the project’s outcomes. After listening to the presentations, the expert panel members raised questions, engaged in discussions, and evaluated the projects’ technical details and expected results. They also offered constructive comments and rationalized suggestions, further clarifying the project’s research direction and formulating review opinions.

All the projects submitted by the Geophysical Exploration Institute passed with high scores and have been approved for initiation.

Li Shirong stated that technology initiatives must be grounded in actual production projects and address real-world needs—not pursue research for research's sake. At the same time, he expressed his recognition of the geophysical exploration institute’s technology projects, noting that wide-area electromagnetic methods and three-dimensional holographic electromagnetic methods hold promising application prospects. He also expressed hope that the geophysical exploration institute’s technology projects would be successfully completed, opening up broader market opportunities.
