On November 19, the Geophysical Exploration Institute held the fifth (expanded) study session of the Party Branch Theoretical Study Center for 2024. The meeting was chaired by Zou Zhongping, Deputy Secretary of the Institute’s Party Branch, Member of the Discipline Inspection Committee, and Chairman of the Trade Union. Members of the Institute’s Party Branch Theoretical Study Center, senior managers, and heads of departments attended the meeting.

The meeting focused on studying the important speeches delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping during his inspection tours of Fujian and Anhui provinces, as well as his replies to representatives of workers from China First Heavy Industries and to student representatives participating in the China International College Student Innovation Competition. Additionally, the meeting covered the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 12th Provincial Party Committee and other important speeches and meetings held by General Secretary Xi Jinping. Members of the central study group exchanged views around the theme: “Grasping the pulse of the times, studying General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important discourses on scientific and technological innovation, and promoting the development of new-quality productive forces at the Institute of Geophysical Exploration.”
The meeting believes that
General Secretary Xi Jinping’s speech has charted the course for the geophysical exploration institute’s work in scientific and technological innovation. We must deeply grasp the essence of his remarks and regard scientific and technological innovation as the core strategy for the institute’s development. Party member leading cadres should unite and lead all staff members to work together with one heart and courageously embrace innovation, striving to elevate the institute’s overall level of scientific and technological innovation and making greater contributions to ensuring the nation’s energy and resource security and to preventing and mitigating geological disasters.
The meeting pointed out that
Technological innovation is the primary driving force behind development and the strategic underpinning for building a modern economic system. In the field of geological exploration, technological innovation determines whether we can achieve breakthroughs in core areas such as resource exploration, geological hazard prevention and control, and environmental geology surveys—and it directly affects the organization’s long-term development and its competitiveness within the industry.
Meeting Requirements
We need to increase investment in scientific and technological innovation. We should establish a stable mechanism for investing in scientific and technological innovation, stepping up investment in areas such as the purchase of research equipment, the implementation of research projects, and the recruitment and development of talent.
We must strengthen our talent development efforts. Actively attract high-level, innovative talents to bolster our research team. At the same time, we should place great emphasis on cultivating our internal talent by conducting technical training, academic exchanges, and project-based practical experiences, thereby enhancing the scientific and technological literacy and innovation capabilities of all employees.
We need to strengthen industry-academia-research cooperation. Continue proactively engaging in extensive and in-depth collaboration with universities and research institutions through the implementation of scientific research projects and technical consulting services, thereby accelerating the commercialization and application of scientific and technological achievements.
We need to further foster a cultural atmosphere that encourages innovation. We should establish platforms for the exchange of scientific and technological innovations, regularly organize events such as showcases of innovative achievements and forums for sharing experiences, and thereby promote innovation-driven exchanges and collaboration among employees.
