The Spirit of Model Workers: Passing It Down from the Front Lines

To thoroughly implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and to effectively put into practice the guiding principles of the 18th National Congress of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the 15th Provincial Congress of the Sichuan Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, while vigorously promoting the spirit of model workers and the spirit of craftsmanship, the Institute’s trade union launched the 2023 “Model Worker” selection activity on the eve of the 2024 “May Day” holiday. After several rounds of rigorous selection, He Hongsen from the Logging Station, Yuan Yan from the Finance Department, and Zhao Yi from the Office were awarded the title of “Model Worker” for 2023 by the Institute of Geophysical Exploration.

Well Logging Station He Hongsen

I’m deeply honored and grateful for the recognition and award bestowed upon me by my leaders! Over the past six years at the Geophysical Exploration Institute, thanks to the care and guidance of my leaders as well as the support and assistance from my colleagues, I’ve made tremendous progress in all aspects of my capabilities. From a novice newcomer—what you might call a “greenhorn”—I’ve grown into a frontline “vanguard” in our production team. As the Geophysical Exploration Institute continues to enhance both the quality and efficiency of its operations, I’ve come to realize that simply doing my job well is no longer enough. I must also keep learning and acquiring more knowledge to elevate my professional expertise. In my future work, I’ll certainly live up to the trust placed in me, live up to everyone’s expectations, and accelerate my personal growth. I’ll keep the bigger picture in mind, demonstrate a spirit of dedication, and fully embody the exemplary role of an aspiring Party member. On this ordinary yet meaningful post, I’m determined to achieve extraordinary results!

When I learned that I had been named a Model Worker of the Institute for 2023, my heart was filled with joy and pride. At the same time, I felt deeply aware of the great responsibility that comes with this honor. Every era has its own unique spirit—a spirit that stems from every ordinary worker around us, whose roles may be humble yet whose achievements are remarkable. This spirit has become the driving force behind my progress.

Although financial work may seem ordinary at first glance, it is actually intricate and complex, carrying immense responsibility. Every single entry and every report must be handled with utmost precision and care. Over the years, I have remained steadfast in my position, working diligently and striving to create value. What has sustained me and driven me forward is precisely that model-worker spirit—characterized by a fearless attitude toward difficulties, a willingness to innovate, and a commitment to hard work and continuous exploration. I will cherish this honor and, in my future work, continue to perform my duties conscientiously, putting the model-worker spirit into practice through my concrete actions and contributing my modest efforts to the unit’s progress and development.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Geophysical Exploration Institute for nurturing and guiding me, as well as to my superiors for their recognition of my efforts. I am deeply aware of the expectations and heavy responsibilities that come with this honor. As a candidate member of the Communist Party, I constantly hold myself to the strict standards expected of Party members. To date, I have driven safely for 23 years, accumulating over 300,000 kilometers of safe driving mileage. In my work, in addition to diligently performing vehicle maintenance and upkeep tasks assigned to me by the institute, I also strive to be a “jack-of-all-trades.” Whether the tasks are within my scope of responsibility or not, I never set conditions or compromise on quality, and I always do my utmost to complete every task to the best of my ability.

Work isn't about size—it's about staying committed to your post, working diligently and earnestly, and you'll surely achieve outstanding results. The spirit of model workers inspires me to never shrink back in the face of difficulties, to dare to take on challenges head-on, and to tackle problems with wisdom and perseverance. In my future work, I will carry forward and promote the spirit of model workers, perform my duties conscientiously, and contribute my own strength to the development of the Geophysical Exploration Institute.

Through this selection activity, advanced role models have been established, encouraging every employee of the Geophysical Exploration Institute to learn from model workers and put into practice, with concrete actions, the requirements of Sichuan Resources Group’s “Three Transformations and Three Enhancements” special campaign. Let us all contribute with greater enthusiasm and wisdom, achieve remarkable accomplishments, and lead fulfilling lives.
