“Jack-of-all-trades” in the geophysical exploration industry

From graduation from university to stepping into the workforce, Comrade Liu Jinhui has maintained his keen enthusiasm for learning and his relentless dedication throughout his more than ten-year career in geophysical exploration. The geophysical exploration industry encompasses various fields—including gravity, magnetism, electricity, and seismic studies—and to venture into new areas and master emerging technologies comprehensively, he devotes himself wholeheartedly to reading books, consulting materials, asking questions diligently, thinking critically, and conducting in-depth research. During field project operations, he collects data during the day and stays up late at night to organize, analyze, and synthesize information carefully, constantly searching for the most effective approaches to overcome project challenges. Under his exemplary leadership and hands-on guidance, both staff members of the field project teams and those in the seismic exploration department have developed a strong habit of eager learning and persistent effort, creating a positive atmosphere of collective learning across the entire organization. It is precisely within this environment of emulation and mutual improvement that technical leaders like Liu Jinhui have mastered a wide range of specialized techniques—including seismic exploration, electrical methods, well logging, and broad-area electromagnetic surveys—becoming true “all-rounders” in the industry. This has laid a solid talent foundation for the Institute of Geophysical Exploration’s market development and project acquisition efforts.

Technology Innovation “Leader”

Liu Jinhui’s Science and Technology Innovation Studio is dedicated to researching wide-area electromagnetic exploration technology and is one of the four young science and technology innovation studios at the Institute of Geophysical Exploration. In recent years, led by Liu Jinhui, the team has overcome numerous challenges and achieved remarkable results. This technology has yielded groundbreaking breakthroughs in fields such as solid mineral resources, geothermal energy, energy development, and transportation—areas where exploration depths reach up to 6,000 meters. To date, the studio has completed exploration over 3,000 kilometers, receiving unanimous acclaim in academic circles and generating significant social and economic benefits. In addition, under Liu Jinhui’s leadership, the team has consistently pursued academic research in geophysical exploration, publishing more than 10 academic papers in recent years, obtaining two invention patents, five new utility model patents, and three computer software copyrights. “When no one else dares to take the lead, Party members step forward first. When there’s no solution, Party members become the solution themselves.” With his practical actions, Liu Jinhui continuously embodies the original aspiration and mission of Sichuan’s resource geophysical explorers.

"Pioneering Ox" in the Production Sector

In recent years, Liu Jinhui has served as project manager for several key projects at the Institute of Geophysical Exploration, including the two-dimensional seismic exploration of shale gas in Chengkou, Chongqing; the electromagnetic monitoring project for oil and gas fracturing; and the wide-area electromagnetic survey in western Chongqing. “One Party member—a banner; one branch—a fortress.” As both a project manager and the secretary of the temporary Party branch, he has always taken the lead and charged ahead, steadfastly staying at his post and demonstrating his sense of responsibility and commitment through concrete actions. He has fully leveraged the exemplary and pioneering role of Party members and cadres, effectively leading one outstanding team after another—teams that are eager to take on challenges, capable of delivering results, and determined to succeed. These teams have efficiently and with high quality completed one challenging and critical project after another, achieving significant breakthroughs and remarkable benefits in multiple projects. While successfully fulfilling production tasks with excellence, he has also further expanded the Institute’s business scope, leveraging its proprietary core technologies to seize the forefront of the market, explore new industry breakthroughs, and provide strong support for the Institute’s production and operations.
