Double good news! The Geophysical Exploration Institute of Sichuan Resources Group has successfully been recognized as a specialized, sophisticated, and innovative small and medium-sized enterprise in Sichuan Province and as a Technology Center for Enterprises in Chengdu.

Recently, the Department of Economy and Information Technology of Sichuan Province released the list of specialized, sophisticated, and innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) recognized in Sichuan Province for 2023. For the first time, the Geophysical Exploration Institute of Sichuan Resources Group was recognized as a “Specialized, Sophisticated, and Innovative SME in Sichuan Province.” At the same time, the Chengdu Bureau of Economy and Information Technology also released the list of “Enterprise Technology Centers” for Chengdu in 2023, and once again, the Geophysical Exploration Institute of Sichuan Resources Group made the list. These two milestones—following the institute’s earlier recognition as a “Innovative SME in Sichuan Province” at the beginning of the year and as a “Science and Technology-based SME in Sichuan Province” in June—are further significant honors and acknowledgments that fully recognize the institute’s long-term commitment to specialization, refinement, distinctiveness, and innovation. They also serve as a powerful incentive and encouragement for the institute to continue driving high-quality, sustainable development through technological innovation.

Specialized, Specialized, and New Small and Medium-sized Enterprises

Specialized, Specialized, and New Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) are SMEs characterized by specialization, refinement, distinctiveness, and innovation. Specialization refers to the specialized nature of products (including services), the expertise of production processes, the proprietary nature of technologies, and the specialized development advantages of products in niche markets. Refinement refers to the exquisite quality of products, the depth and sophistication of production technologies, and the refined management practices of enterprises. Distinctiveness refers to the unique and distinctive features of products. Innovation refers to the innovative and advanced nature of products and technologies, which feature high technological content, high added value, and significant economic and social benefits. Specialized, Specialized, and New SMEs are key players in enhancing economic resilience and upgrading the modernization level of industrial and supply chains; they are also indispensable forces for stimulating innovation vitality and perfecting industrial ecosystems.

Enterprise Technology Center

An enterprise technology center is a technology research and development and innovation institution established by an enterprise in response to market competition needs and in alignment with its development strategy. It is responsible for formulating the enterprise’s technological innovation plan, conducting industrial technology research and development, creating and leveraging intellectual property rights, establishing a technical standards system, attracting and cultivating innovative talent, building collaborative innovation networks, and coordinating the comprehensive implementation of the entire technological innovation process. The recognition and evaluation of enterprise technology centers in Chengdu aim to implement the “innovation-driven” development strategy, promote technological innovation efforts across enterprises throughout Chengdu, and highlight the leading and exemplary role of enterprise technology centers in building enterprises’ independent innovation capabilities.

Since the 14th Five-Year Plan, the Geophysical Exploration Institute has closely focused on the development direction of "marketization, specialization, and technological advancement to enhance the core competitiveness of the enterprise." By steadily deepening enterprise reform, the institute has continuously promoted innovation in business philosophy, technological innovation, management innovation, and diversified industrial innovation. With a focus on its core business, the institute has pursued meticulous and refined operations, vigorously implemented innovation-driven development, advanced innovation in scientific research projects, continuously improved the quality and level of development, strengthened its core competitiveness, and fully leveraged both domestic and international innovation resources to create a new landscape of integrated and collaborative innovation involving industry, academia, research, and application.
