Drawing Lessons from Cases: Promoting Integrity Through Warning Education—The Geophysical Exploration Institute Organizes a Viewing of the Warning Education Film “Family Values”

On June 1, the Institute of Geophysical Exploration organized its leading team members in Chengdu, members of the Party branch committee, heads of various departments, and all party members to watch together the cautionary educational film “Family Values,” further strengthening the building of Party conduct and integrity, solidifying the ideological and moral defense against corruption and degeneration, and enhancing the sense of integrity and self-discipline among Party members and cadres.

Since the 18th National Congress of the Party, General Secretary Xi Jinping has attached great importance to the building of family ethos, family education, and family traditions, explicitly calling for “regarding the cultivation of family ethos as an important component of strengthening the work style of leading cadres.” The provincial party committee has urged leading cadres to “not only pay attention to their personal conduct, the work style of their units, and the style of their leadership teams, but also to strengthen family education, establish sound family rules, and foster a positive family ethos.”

The warning education film presents corruption cases involving “husband-and-wife teams,” “father-and-son alliances,” “brotherly gangs,” and even “the entire family mobilized”—cases that ultimately end in a disastrous outcome: “pulling up the radish also pulls up the mud,” destroying not only themselves but also their entire families. The film deeply analyzes the ideological roots behind their descent into wrongdoing, revealing how they turned a blind eye to the corrupt behavior of their family members and even joined forces with them as brokers of power. It serves as a solemn reminder and admonition to Party members and cadres: Be extremely cautious when handling the power entrusted to you; strictly supervise and manage your family members and close relatives, and absolutely forbid them from exploiting your official position for personal gain. You must take the lead in practicing integrity, cultivating personal virtue, and maintaining an honest and upright family environment.

After watching the video, everyone expressed their commitment to take these cases as cautionary tales, drawing valuable lessons from negative role models. They pledged to consciously regard family ethos building as an important component of conduct development, regularly conducting integrity education within their families, and guiding their family members to cultivate a clean and upright family culture. They resolved to be active practitioners and exemplary leaders of positive family values, consciously adopting political awareness, considering the bigger picture, and upholding discipline as their guiding principles—living with integrity and acting with transparency.
