On the afternoon of May 9, to deepen and effectively implement the “Three Transformations and Three Enhancements” initiative, the Equipment Safety Supervision Department of the Geophysical Exploration Institute organized a training session on driving safety for drivers. Attending the meeting were members of the institute’s leadership team, heads of various functional departments, project managers of ongoing construction projects, and drivers. The meeting was chaired by Gu Zhiwen, a member of the institute’s Party Committee, Deputy General Manager, and Chief Engineer.

At the meeting, heads of various departments exchanged views and delivered speeches on topics such as driving safety, vehicle management, and driver management. The Equipment Safety Supervision Department reported on recent road traffic accidents that have occurred across the country, using these accidents as a mirror to reflect on their lessons. Through an in-depth analysis of various accident cases, the department identified the underlying causes of these incidents, uncovered common issues prevalent in traffic safety accidents, and summarized valuable experiences and lessons learned—thus serving as a wake-up call for all participants.

The meeting emphasized.

First, we must elevate our political awareness. We should take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as our guiding principle, fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and earnestly carry out the important instructions and directives of General Secretary Xi Jinping on work safety. We must always put the people first and life above all else, and strengthen our bottom-line thinking and risk awareness. All staff members of the Geophysical Exploration Institute must deeply recognize that driving safety is not merely a reflection of driving skills—it is also an expression of respect for and protection of human life.

Second, we must implement refined management. Guided by the hospital’s “Three-Year Action Plan for Addressing Root Causes of Production Safety (2024-2026),” we should take refined management measures and strengthen safety education as our key approaches. Working in parallel on both fronts, the Hospital’s Equipment and Safety Supervision Department and vehicle-using departments must establish comprehensive vehicle management records and driver management records. Not only should they keep real-time track of vehicle conditions and perform routine maintenance and repairs, but they should also proactively adopt various methods to organize driving safety training for drivers, thereby enhancing the hospital’s overall level of intrinsic safety.

Third, we must intensify efforts to identify and address potential safety hazards in vehicle operations. The Equipment and Safety Supervision Department of the institute should adopt the “four noes and two direct” approach to conduct in-depth inspections at the grassroots level of projects on a regular basis, strengthen vehicle safety management, and thoroughly eliminate any safety risks associated with vehicle operations. For any identified safety hazards, a detailed ledger should be established, with timely corrective actions taken and cases closed once resolved, thus achieving a closed-loop management system. Each project department must carry out daily briefings on driving safety, and drivers must inspect the condition of their vehicles before each trip. If any vehicle malfunction is detected, it must be immediately checked and repaired; we must resolutely prevent vehicles from being driven while still faulty.

The convening of this meeting has firmly instilled in all participants a strong awareness of safe driving. Moving forward, the Geophysical Exploration Institute will continue to shoulder its responsibility for safe production with unwavering commitment, meticulously weaving and strengthening the network of safety prevention responsibilities, and making every effort to eliminate blind spots and gaps in safety management, thereby ensuring high-level safety to support high-quality development.
