Sichuan Provincial Geophysical Society

To further enhance the role and contribution of geophysics in Sichuan Province and neighboring regions in scientific research and economic development, and with the guidance and assistance of the Sichuan Provincial Association for Science and Technology, and after extensive coordination among various parties, the Sichuan Geophysical Society has been established jointly by Chengdu University of Technology, Southwest Petroleum University, Sichuan University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Southwest Jiaotong University, and other higher education institutions, research institutes, and large state-owned enterprises in Sichuan Province that are involved in geophysics.

This social organization will uphold the leadership of the Communist Party of China, abide by national laws and regulations, implement the Party’s major guidelines and policies, practice the core socialist values, promote the spirit of patriotism, observe social ethics and customs, consciously strengthen integrity and self-discipline, and proactively guard against political, social, economic, and security risks. It will leverage the proactive role of social organizations, actively engage in public welfare and charitable activities, contribute to the development and governance of urban and rural communities, support the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle, foster social harmony and economic development, and make its contribution to the comprehensive building of a modern, socialist Sichuan.

In accordance with the organizational requirements of the Sichuan Provincial Association for Science and Technology, and under the leadership of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and Provincial Government as well as the guidance of the supporting institutions, we shall carry out the work of science and technology associations. We will actively assist the Sichuan Provincial Association for Science and Technology in organizing academic exchanges, scientific and technological services, science popularization education, industry standards development, and technology promotion activities. We will also maintain close ties with enterprises, institutions, and research institutes in Sichuan that are engaged in earth sciences, establish a liaison mechanism among geophysical-related entities in Sichuan Province, and promote earth physics research and development in Sichuan and the broader Southwest region. Furthermore, we will effectively organize universities, research institutes, state-owned enterprises, and scientific research and technical service companies in Sichuan’s relevant professional fields, establishing platforms for scientific research and technological innovation, with the aim of elevating the international standing and level of earth physics in Sichuan. We will conduct our activities within the following scope:

(1) Actively engage in academic exchanges related to geophysics, organize academic seminars, forums, and scientific expeditions on geophysics, foster vibrant academic discourse, promote interdisciplinary integration, enhance academic standards, and advance the development of this discipline. Strengthen connections and exchanges among geophysicists both domestically and internationally, as well as within and beyond provincial boundaries; reinforce friendly ties with foreign geophysical scientific and technological organizations and individuals; and adhere to the primary responsibilities and core missions of social organizations.

(2) In accordance with the development needs of the geophysical discipline, organize relevant experts in this field to put forward proactive recommendations or provide decision-making advice on major issues such as national economic development strategies and science and technology development policies, and strive to enhance the role of this discipline in national economic development, national defense construction, local economic development, and social progress.

(3) In accordance with relevant national regulations, edit and publish academic books and audiovisual products; organize scientific and technological lectures or competitions in specialized fields; leverage diverse forms of science communication to advance scientific and technological progress, promote knowledge updates, enhance the academic standards of members, and assist members in expanding into broader areas of scientific and technological activities. Furthermore, popularize and promote geophysical science and technology through various channels and formats.

(4) Actively engage in the technological development, consulting, technical training, technology brokerage, and technical services related to geophysical science and technology projects. On behalf of government departments or in response to market and industry development needs, undertake feasibility studies for geophysical science and technology projects, evaluate and promote scientific and technological achievements, review qualifications for technical positions, and compile and edit scientific literature and standards—thereby facilitating the rapid transformation of research findings into productive forces.

(5) Safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of members, reflect their opinions and concerns, and organize business training services for members.
