As the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China approaches, the Communist Youth League is also poised to enter a historic milestone—the centenary of its founding. To implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on youth work and further consolidate the achievements of Party history study and education, and to guide young League members and youths to firmly listen to the Party and follow its lead, on the morning of April 21, 2022, the Youth League Committee of the Institute of Geophysical Exploration organized a sharing and exchange meeting titled “Celebrating the 20th National Congress, Forever Following the Party, and Striding Forward on a New Journey—A Century of Youth Movements Under the Leadership of the Party.” Zhang Guangda, Secretary of the Party Branch Committee, Chairman of the Board, and General Manager of the Institute of Geophysical Exploration, along with 26 young League members based in Chengdu, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Liu Jing, Secretary of the Youth League Committee.
At the meeting, Liu Jing shared “The Glorious Journey of the Party’s Leadership in China’s Youth Movement.” By recounting the stories of how the Communist Party of China has led young people across different historical periods—revolution, construction, and reform—to continuously strive and achieve remarkable feats, participants learned about General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on youth work. Liu Jing called on the young members of the Geophysical Exploration Institute to stay committed to their posts, dare to take action, and wholeheartedly write a new chapter.
Next, three young League members delivered exchange speeches.
Liu Lei from the Electromagnetic Exploration Department stated: As a geophysical exploration professional, I deeply recognize the importance of striving for the younger generation. Our efforts have laid a solid foundation for the construction of Sichuan’s shale gas platform, bringing safe and green energy to millions of households and ensuring our country’s energy security needs. Our dedication has also provided crucial support for the construction of railways, highways, bridges, and tunnels—thanks to our assistance, the Sichuan-Tibet Railway and the high-speed road network have reached every corner of the country, connecting countless people across our motherland. Moreover, through our persistent efforts, we’ve successfully explored and uncovered a wealth of precious underground resources, including minerals and geothermal energy, thus presenting to the Chinese people the treasures that our motherland has hidden for us. Yet, while we remain focused on our hard work, we must also lift our heads and seek out the right direction forward. In our pursuit, we must pay attention to methodology and innovation, so as to better serve society. Therefore, in our daily work, we should actively learn advanced geophysical exploration techniques, incorporate summarizing work methods and experiences, and regularly read geophysical journals—all of which are essential components of our professional routine. We must continually maintain intellectual vitality, boldly experiment with new methods and theories, optimize existing geophysical technologies, frequently publish papers, and constantly infuse innovative thinking into our work. By doing so, we can build an advanced geophysical exploration technology system and always be prepared to meet increasingly complex and daunting challenges.
Wang Haocheng from the Water and Soil Conservation Design Department said, “In my work, I’ve come to realize the immense weight of the dream—‘Every mountain is green, every stream is clear’—that rests on my shoulders and on the shoulders of millions of ecological professionals. As someone who used to yearn for a comfortable life, I now feel an even stronger desire to see more of our country’s magnificent rivers and mountains, to strive wholeheartedly for the great cause of ecological civilization, and to ensure that ‘Every mountain is green, every stream is clear’ ceases to be just a dream. Although what I’m doing may seem like only a tiny contribution, when tens of thousands of young people across the industry come together, we’re all working on a monumental undertaking that benefits both the present generation and future generations. Right now, I’m acutely aware that I still have many shortcomings—but I’m also more confident than ever that I can dedicate my efforts to the great goals and the grand journey of the new era.”

Ye Jiaxin from the Finance Department remarked that, as the company’s cashier, my job is both ordinary and unremarkable—indeed, it can be summed up in three words: “meticulous,” “monotonous,” and “repetitive.” I deeply understand that only by performing each small, tedious task with utmost care and efficiency, and by continuously improving both work quality and productivity, can I truly serve the company better—even in an inconspicuous position. In peacetime, we may not be able to accomplish earth-shattering feats like our forefathers did. However, as long as we hold firm ideals, remain diligent and hardworking, diligently hone our professional skills, adapt to the ever-evolving demands of accounting work, actively contribute ideas and suggestions to enhance our organization’s economic efficiency, and meticulously and carefully complete every task, no matter how minor it may seem, we can still uphold the advanced spirit of a young Chinese person. Therefore, maintaining the vigorous and proactive attitude of a Communist Youth League member and striving to become an outstanding financial professional is my unwavering pursuit as a member of the League.
Finally, Zhang Guang delivered a concluding speech.
He stated that the development of the Geophysical Exploration Institute is inseparable from the hard work and dedication of young people. First, the institute boasts a clean and upright atmosphere, brimming with an entrepreneurial spirit and a strong drive to achieve success. Young people are actively involved in the company’s key projects and important positions; everyone approaches their work with passion, ensuring the company has sustained momentum for growth. The achievements of the Geophysical Exploration Institute are all the result of everyone’s hard work and relentless efforts. Second, we work together in unity, pulling together as one. Through collaborative efforts at our posts and active participation in various cultural and sports activities, we have fostered a strong team spirit and seamless cooperation. This has created a mechanism of mutual support, solidarity, and efficient coordination, injecting continuous vitality into the company’s development.
At the same time, he also put forward three key requirements. First, young people should dare to try and not be afraid of making mistakes. Young people have plenty of opportunities to learn from trial and error; the more actively they expose their own mistakes, the greater their chances of correcting them. Don't let fear of making mistakes rob you of the opportunity to improve yourself. Second, keep pace with the times and move forward boldly. In your work, don't let outdated ideas or old experiences hold young people back. The company encourages young people to think boldly, speak boldly, and act boldly—constantly updating their perspectives, technologies, and software—and staying at the forefront of both the Party and the youth, showcasing the vigor and dynamism of young geophysical explorers. Third, learn from your seniors and forge ahead through inheritance. The field of geophysical exploration is not achieved overnight. The spirit of scientific rigor, relentless effort, and pursuit of excellence demonstrated by the older generation of geophysicists is worthy of emulation by every young person. We must take the older generation of geophysicists as role models and strive tirelessly for the high-quality development of the geophysical exploration industry.
